812

Situated in the urban area of Toho Town, 812 (named after the founding date of Toho) is a shop inspired by the famous 109 department store located in the Shibuya ward of Tokyo. The original 109 is a major location in Japanese fashion, standing tall with ten floors offering a variety of shops devoted to fashion and accessories. It’s quite the sight to see, with its sleek and shining exterior. Though 812 may not have the ten floors of its inspiration or quite the same massive size, it still shares a similar exterior façade. Stepping inside, however, guests will be greeted by a whole variety of sub-sections that will cater to their shopping needs.

When entering in through the main facade, Crossroads serves as a more generalist area. Simple apparel and items can be found in this area, such as Godzilla t-shirts, daruma dolls, and posters of The Great Wave Off Kanagawa. There is even a solid assortment of books about Japan for sale. The design aesthetic is simple but modern. Further in, the scenery shifts to pastel pinks as Cute + Stylish is devoted to “kawaii” culture. Stuffed bears, colorful purses and bags, and even Victorian-inspired dresses with lace frills are available in this super cutesy area. Finally, at the other end of 812 is a wonderland of anime merchandise with AniClub. Figurines and collectibles can be found of all sorts of anime franchises that have had movie releases through Toho, such as Doraemon, Lupin III, and Detective Conan. Of course, this section would not be complete without an impressive array of Godzilla figures for sale. So, whether you're looking for a simple piece of merchandise, some cute and stylish apparel, or something for an anime fan you know, 812 will have you covered.

Kiki's Delivery Service

Sitting right next door to Osono’s Bakery in the rural area is this dark wooden shop, baring a silhouette on its storefront window of a witch riding on her broomstick. Inspired by the film Kiki’s Delivery Service, the simple building looks like if Kiki had managed to get a small store for holding goods from her travels. Her broom rests in a special holster upon the wall, along with pictures of her family and friends. In any case, this quaint shop specializes in selling Studio Ghibli merchandise. There is plenty to find here, such as collectibles like Totoro plushes and models of Porco Rosso’s seaplane or apparel and accessories like Sheeta’s necklace in Castle in the Sky and Kiki’s signature red bow. They can even purchase DVDs and Blu Ray discs for the Studio Ghibli films. Whatever the item, there is plenty to discover among the shelves in this witch’s store.
