1. David was born 28 July 1850 in Vienna according to his marriage register (see FamilySearch).
2. David first appears in the address book in 1873 as a “schumacher-zugehordl en gros” living at Grosse Mohrengasse 11 (1873-74) when he would have been about twenty three.
3. In 1875 he moved to Lerchenselderstrasse 65 in Josefstadt and in 1876 he is listed as working from Lerchselderstrasse but living at Leopoldsgasse 24. Lehmann's 1876.
4. In 1880 he opened a second shop at V Hundsthurmerstrasse 98. Lehmann's 1880
5. Hermine Farber was born 26 February 1863 in Vienna and lived with her parents (David and Rosa Farber) at Schiffamtsgasse 7. See marriage register (FamilySearch).
6. Leopold Fried was born on 9 March 1883. See FamilySearch.

14. David moved to Grosse Mohrengasse 25 in 1895 (Lehmann’s 1895). After 1894 Salomon no longer appears in the address book but we know from Hugo’s university enrolment forms that they were also living at the same address.

18. Julie Flesch booked into Hillbrand 12, Aussee with her daughter (Anna Gerstmann) and nephew (fifteen year old Walter?) and their cook on 18 July 1899. 20. David Fried died 27 November 1908 and was buried on 29 November 1908 (FamilySearch).
21. In the 1911 cadastre Leopold & Walter are listed as owners of two properties on Klosterneuburger Strasse (67 & 106), Brigittenau. Number 67 was a five story apartment containing 33 apartments; number 106 was a five story building containing 40 apartments.
22. The university records for 1902/3 winter term are missing but Walter registered for his second term on 9 May 1903 where he studied four subjects including Chemistry, chemical technology and theoretical physics. Phaidra Nationale der Studierenden der Philosophischen Fakultät Sommersemester 1903 Buchstaben A-F p446. He would have graduated in 1907.

26. Leopold Fried began to describe himself as a journalist from 1907. Lehmann’s 1907. We know that he worked for the Neue Freie Presse because the obituary for Walter “laments our colleague Leopold Fried his only brother” Neue Freie Press 21 Sept 1917 and an obituary for Leopold himself in the paper describes him as “our correspondent”. 27. Leopold joined Concordia on 2 March 1910. Concordia Annual report and accounts 1910. His birthdate confirms that this is our Leopold Fried.
28. He was elected as secretary on 29 May 1914. Neue Wiener Tagblatt 4 June 1914 and joined the board itself in 1916. Wiener Zeitung 3 June 1916
29. Leopold married Hildegard Eisner in 1917 according to Genteam but the precise date is not specified. It was probably in the last quarter of 1917 as Hildegard is mentioned on the funeral notice Leopold publishes in Neue Freie Presse 27 May 1918 but omitted from the one he posts in Neue Freie Presse 21 Sept 1917.
30. A brief obituary “one of the most reliable…” is published in Neue Freie Presse 10 June 1918 and followed with a more fulsome and personal obituary “... a fine, good-natured man…” in Neue Freie Presse 11 June 1918. No record of his death survives.
31. What became of his wife Hildegard remains a mystery other than she survived him.
