The basic shapes and forms - Circle, Square, Triangle / Sphere, Cube, Pyramid. These shapes/forms are the building blocks of all design. Paired with the "principles of design" and "elements of art," they are how we develop almost every product, logo, painting, sculpture, and building.
The first exercise is drawing your name and sharing your writing with everyone in the class. This gives a sample of your writing to everyone else, and you get a sample of theirs. This stylized communication may remind you of the font. Fonts convey meaning, as well as the letters that spell the words. Sometimes even more so!
Some artists to consider while drawing your circles.
Dear Data is a project by artist/designer(s) Stefanie Posavec and Giorgia Lupi that makes data beautiful. It tracks day-to-day events over the course of a week and the year-long correspondence is about that week's data. Each postcard is sent through the mail.
Tega Brain makes art about seeing large amounts of Data.
