Concept sketch, illustrate and create a meaningful holiday gift that will help raise awareness and funds to benefit the endangered species at Cúc Phương National Park. Investigate the markets and trends within your peer and parent community to identify products that will not only sell well, but will also do the most to influence a change in the systems within your sphere of influence. Check out these videos to see what Social Entrepreneurship / Marketing has done for the world!

In this unit you will learn how to do the following:
Development Students constantly adapt and change their plans when creating the solution, dependent on the thoroughness of their planning and, when evaluating, students develop testing methods to assess the success of the solution.
Personal and cultural expression
Since this unit has an exact point in time where the product must be finished and ready for sale, we can learn about a method used in real-world design projects called Backward Planning. This is a method that is used to think about what needs to be done on a certain date and then carefully plan each step to get there. We will be using a Gantt chart to do this.
Make a copy of the below template and identify blocks that you might consider moving around to improve your planning.
Research what content and skills you will need to complete your mission. Here are some examples of questions you might want to consider in your inquiry and how they can be prioritized and categorized into primary and secondary research.
A skill you will learn is how to design a vector shape to be cut or engraved using the laser cutter. These shapes can then be combined to form a 3D object. Use the Skill icon on the side to investigate laser cutting.
Add a link at the top of the template provided and conduct a SWOT analysis of products that you have researched. For the opportunities section, consider how you could change the product into something that has more to do with the endangered animal you have chosen to raise awareness about.
Summarize what you have learned in your research and answer the questions provided in a Design Brief.
Review the Market Scan from a few years ago below and get some ideas of what types of items will sell well.
How does a Design Brief look?
What a Design Brief does NOT look like
Now that you have completed your research, let's make sure you are on the right track to create a successful product or solution.
Sketching and brainstorming is an integral part of the design process when making a video. Based on the opportunities you identified during your SWOT analysis of existing products, begin to sketch out at least 4 different ideas and share them with peers.
Go back to the design specifications from B1 and create a survey to help you decide which sketch you would like to create as a vector. Replace the pictures in this survey template with your own and upload the link to Seesaw.
Now that you have completed your design, reflect on your progress with this self assessment.
Complete the questions below using the template provided:
Present your final design and document whether or not you met your key dates or had to change your plans. This can also be a link to your final product or solution.
Now that you have completed your product or solution, help out a peer in reviewing their work. Use the template provided to give them constructive feedback.
Complete the questions below using the template provided:
Identify improvements that you believe your product or solution would benefit from to positively impact your target audience. Detail the reason or cause that you believe justify that improvement.
Think about how your product or solution impacted your target audience. Include reasons or causes.
