HOW TO USE A RETINOID:
1) START SLOW: Start with a pea sized amount three times weekly at night. Increase frequency every week as tolerated. (week 2: 4 times weekly-- week 3: 5 times weekly etc)
2) APPLY TO DRY SKIN: Dry your skin completely prior to application
3) START WITH A MILDER RETINOL/RETINOID: Be patient and start with a milder retinoid and increase the strengths as tolerated
4) BE PATIENT: For acne it can take 3 months to see the benefits of retinoids. For anti-aging can take 6 months to start to see benefits. Benefits improve with longer duration of treatment
5) RETINOIDS CAN NOT BE USED AS SPOT TREATMENT: Retinoids need to be used daily to be effective (however- as noted above, take your time to work up to daily use)

HELP! My skin is red and irritated
1) START SLOW: See above
2) APPLY TO DRY SKIN
3) DON'T APPLY TOO MUCH (apply pea size amount or less to entire face)
4) AVOID AREA AROUND MOUTH (this is the most sensitive area of our skin - apply to this area less frequently if needed)
5) SANDWICH: Apply moisturizer before/after or both
6) WASH OFF AFTER 90 MINUTES: Apply retinoid and wash off after 90 minutes
