Gently wash the wound with a mild soap such as Dove Bar Soap, Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser, Vanicream Gentle Body Wash or other fragrance free gentle cleanser.
Pat the wound dry with a clean dry cloth
A moist wound heals faster. Apply jelly such as Aquaphor, Vaseline, CeraVe or Healing Ointment
Cover wound with an adhesive bandage or sterile gauze and paper tape. Moist covered wounds heal faster and avoid scab formation.
Wounds on lower legs and back may take more than a week and up to a month to heal. Scab formation, traumatized wounds and dirty wounds will take longer to heal.
