Arcane and Radioactive energy is present ambiently throughout the world, occasionally becoming noticeable enough to impact its creatures! When completing Activities and Quests, a dergon can occasionally find something intriguing to investigate. Completing a short prompt will give a chance for extra rewards, as well as a chance for Arcane/Radioactive counters to be added to the dergon's import. This tracks their exposure to a given energy, and can impact a dergon's progeny as well.
Arcane and Radioactive energy tracked on a dergon's import can have a value between 0 and 5. Each point will give a 5% chance for the associated effects, for a maximum of 25% for each type. When the counters provide a chance in a breeding, they are wiped from the import and can be collected once again.
The most common effect of Arcane or Radioactive energy in a breeding is the appearance of markings unique to these effects. Dergons can also be hatched with several mutations, which will generally allow for custom lineart! These are sorted by severity, type, and body parts they can affect.
Dergons with these mutations can be hatched with an inborn counter, which is more permanent than those gained by activities. Similarly to the inbreeding coefficient, this number will halve in future generations!
When a dergon with an Arcane or Radioactive Coefficient and one of these mutations is bred, the mutation will have a chance to pass, as long as the hatchlings will also receive a CoA or CoR- the number which tracks how much of a chance there is for a mutation. Once the hatchling has no chance to pass their Coefficient (under a threshold number), these mutations stop being passable.
When breeding two Arcane or Radioactively affected dergons together, there's a chance for undesirable mutations to occur, though not to the same extent as Inbreeding risks.
Missing parts create a smoothly removed surface, as the dergon was hatched without these parts. No scarring should be visible!
Missing Features affect small parts like toes, wing fingers/wing claws, horns, teeth, and head fins. Moderate can affect eyes as well.
Missing Limbs affects larger portions of the dergon such as a leg or wing, including mouth and jaw. Moderate can affect the entire head as well.
Missing Covering affects wing membrane, scales/feathers, spikes, or any other extra variations. Moderate can hide an entire Body Type. Severe can create a translucent, meaty effect.
Up to two small missing pieces such as fins or toes, may affect up to 50% of a leg or wing.
Up to six missing pieces such as eyes, fins, or toes; or, up to one missing or reduced limb such as a leg or wing; up to all wings may be 50% smaller than usual.
No limit on missing small pieces; up to three removed limbs such as leg or wing; neck may be reduced in length up to 50%.
Extra parts duplicate features with approximately the same size and location as the original. No scarring should be visible!
Extra Features affect small parts like toes, wing fingers/wing claws, horns, teeth, and head fins. Moderate can affect eyes as well.
Extra Limbs affects larger portions of the dergon such as a leg or wing, including mouth and jaw. Moderate can affect the entire head as well.
Extra Covering affects wing membrane, scales/feathers, spikes, any other extra variations, and can create wrinkles of extra skin. Moderate can duplicate Variations by about twice their range, and Severe can extend an entire Body Type by about twice the original.
Up to two duplicated parts such as eyes or toes; up to 15% of the dergon's body; affected parts stay closely in the same location as the original (eyes must stay on the face, toes must stay on the foot). The size of the duplicated parts should be about the same as the original.
Up to six duplicated parts such as eyes or toes; up to two extra limbs such as leg or wing; affected parts stay in the same general area as the original, but can change location (eyes can spread to the neck, toes can appear up to the knee). Sizes may be altered to produce smaller duplications, by up to half.
No limit on duplicated parts such as eyes or toes; up to five extra limbs such as leg or wing; up to 75% of the dergon's body; affected parts can appear anywhere on the body. Duplicated parts may be larger or smaller than the original by up to half.
Strange parts create a warped version of the original feature, without severe duplication. These can take inspiration from real life animals, or be completely alien looking. They should not be used to closely resemble other closed species/copyrighted material. No scarring should be visible!
Strange Features affect small parts like toes, eyes, wing fingers/wing claws, horns, teeth, and head fins. Moderate can affect the mouth and jaws as well.
Strange Limbs affects larger portions of the dergon such as a leg or wing. Moderate can affect the entire head as well.
Strange Covering affects wing membrane, scales/feathers, spikes, or any other extra variations. Moderate allows completely custom Body Type lineart. Severe can completely warp the dergon's skin, creating something with the coverage of a body type but which doesn't need to resemble any existing features.
Up to two affected parts such as eyes or toes; up to 50% of a limb such as a wing or leg.
Up to six affected parts such as eyes or toes; up to 40% of the dergon's body; up to an entire limb.
No limit on small features affected; Up to three affected limbs, and affected parts may move around the body.
