In the guides above, color sliders and marking ranges link to their fullsize counterparts hosted on sta.sh!
Firstly, if you're not familiar with general ARPG terminology, check out the Guide to Dergon Keeping to familiarize yourself with some of the terms being thrown around!
Nextly, you'll wanna take a good look at the base color and markings. Dergon genos have info about both the markings and physical variations on your derg, and generally show you what your lineart and coloration will be able to include.
Your base color is the beginning of your design. The full guide is linked at the top of the page, but in a nutshell- the first word (or first two, with a color mutation!) in the last line of your geno will tell you what slider you'll be designing from. Unmodified, your options are Chalk, Stone, and Onyx, and Vibrant color genes can send your dergon careening through the hues. There are also color mutations which can make your dergon take on a wildly different color than it otherwise would!
Your dergon's Habitat is the background their import will show on! You can freely swap a Habitat to Mountains, Sea Cliffs, or Flying Islands- these are the homelands of dergons, and they'll all feel at home there. More exotic locations can be inherited from a parent, or moved to with a specific item.
Then, your markings; while you can just go by the listed names with no issue, the line of gene codes above will tell you if your marking is Hom. instead of Het., which usually means it'll have an expanded range and sometimes more options. Don't forget to check Modifier genes if you can't find something! Marking layering is mostly free to choose, except for white and black markings, as well as marks that dilute color instead of adding it, like Sunbleach.
Your import may have a few body types and physical mutations called variations listed- these are linearts which show up if your import lists certain physical features! Horned is a common variation- so common it's listed next to the Body Type, and anything listed after your dergon's Health is a physical variation whose lineart should show up on the import. You MAY draw custom lineart for these! Variations may be redrawn freely, but larger Body Types need an item to alter. (Custom lineart tips can be found on individual variation and body type pages!) Basically, they should cover roughly the same area and follow the same idea as the original.
Once you have your design- saved as a flat .png at the same dimensions as the import (2600 x 2200 pixels), you'll need to fill out the Import Information Template, and put both together somewhere design approval admins can look at it! Traditionally this is done through dA's sta.sh, but that has been steadily declining in functionality, so many options are available, for example:
A google doc with the Information Template filled out, along with a link to a google drive upload of the design
Uploading the image directly to our Design Approval channel, with a link to a doc with the Information Template filled out
A link to the design in dropbox with the Information Template filled out in a comment
Which particular method you use is up to you, as long as a few things are made sure of: An admin can- without logging in- download your image (so we can post it to the masterlist!), and see your Information Template easily and immediately (or with a note on where to look)!
While you can post the design directly on Discord, please try not to post the full information text as well! It adds a LOT of clutter the channel.
When you have these collected, submit your design either on the Design Approval journal or in the Design Approval channel! (Please don't do both! This is one or the other.)
An admin will look over the design, and if anything needs changes, they'll respond in a comment on dA, or in a new thread on Discord depending on where you posted. (There is no time limit on fixing a design; if the thread is archived, hover over the channel and click 'See All' under threads to find it!)
