Merle creates a rough, patchy marking with two layers of color. The two layers do not have to sit on top of each other; they can overlap outside of ranges, and even swap the colors’ layering on different parts of the dergon. Merle is specifically known to cause a dergon’s eyes to change to light blue where the marking passes over them, though this effect is optional.
Layering Rules
Can freely layer under & over markings, except White, Black, and Dilution genes
Hard, Textured, Border, Puzzled

Merle should cover at least 10% of the dergon, or enough to be noticeable, and can cover up to 40% of the dergon. In Super form, can cover up to 80% of the dergon.
Merle may connect with and extend Painted, and when connected, these two markings can use each others’ color rules.
