For my first weekend trip I flew to Porto, Portugal. We took the first flight out on Friday morning and spent the following days roaming the gorgeous streets of the city. Once we landed we dropped our bags and headed straight for the river front to enjoy seafood. I ordered the salmon and it was amazing! I've never had fish that fresh before. I also sampled the port wine that Porto is famous for, and it didn't disappoint. Later in the afternoon we had a tour of Porto from a local. He was great and I learned so much about Portuguese history. Along the way we observed fantastic views of the city, gorgeous churches and even the bookstore where J.K. Rowling started the Harry Potter series! After the tour we headed over the famous bridge in the city to watch the sunset over the city of Porto. The clouds ruined our plan but it was excellent exercise! We ended the night with tapas for dinner and we ended up walking almost 11 miles up and down the hilly city.
The second day I woke up early and explored the city solo. I popped into a cafe and waited for the rain to pass. One of Porto's most famous pastries is the Pastel de Nata. I could not stop eating them, they're so delicious! I ended up in the art district and I even bought a water color painting! The sun finally came back out and I got some amazing photos of the city. I met up with my friends for lunch. We visited the famous bookstore in the town. After that we then headed to the river and hopped on a river tour. It was great to see the town from a completely different perspective. On the tour they let us sample green wine and of the five port wines that one was my favorite. After the cruise we grabbed dinner and called it a night before our early flight home Sunday morning.
