I visited Parc Güell. The park was gorgeous and Gaudi was a genius. I then went to the 4D simulator which animated the vision and the process behind La Sagrada Família and many other famous work by Gaudi. Then I went to La Sagrada Família and the Basilica took my breath away. It is now officially my most favorite church I have ever been to. This church is unfinished and will not be finished for 10 more years. They have been building it for over 100 years now!
After that I explored the city with my new friends. We eventually made our way up the El Carmel Bunkers where we watched the sunset. these bunkers are from WWII and they have the most amazing view of the city. We somehow ended up at a Mexican restaurant for dinner which is painfully ironic, but it was still a great night.
(After two hours of sleep) I started my day with a tour of the Street Art in the city of Barcelona. This tour focused on all of the amazing architecture in the city. Next we visited the Picasso Museum in the Gothic Quarter. It was so interesting to see how he evolved as an artist. (no pictures were allowed in the museum so you'll just have to go and check it out for yourself). I love abstract art so it was a pretty great day for me! After some weird sun showers, I grabbed lunch with a friend and we ate tapas on Las Rambas. I headed back to the ship and enjoyed a pool day as we sailed to Valencia.
I was part of a Valencia city tour. The arts and sciences district was my favorite spot. (That is the one with the super blue water and contemporary buildings). I explored some gorgeous churches and fell in love with a street artist I found. After the tour I met up with some friends and hit the beach. The beach was so shallow but gorgeous! After a quick shower we headed out and celebrated a birthday over tapas. I cannot tell you how good they were. I'm still dreaming about them cause now I’m stuck with ship food for at least a week. It ended up pouring on us as we were walking home to the ship.
We were supposed to go visit the caves which are pretty close to Valencia, but due to the rain the night before they had completely flooded. So it turned into another city tour. I was lucky enough to sneak away from the tour to buy a painting that I had seen the day before from the street artist. I am so happy, and I absolutely love this painting! I'm not super upset about not going into the caves since I have some art work. We then drove an hour into the country side and enjoyed paella in a restaurant that was built right into a cave! It actually dripped on us during lunch which was pretty cool. After that we headed back to the ship and I had to say farewell to Spain. Goodbye for now, but I'll be back!
