We started off the day at a Fishery. We were given a tour of the facilities. This organization works to educate fishermen to preserve the biodiversity of the region. The group also studies fish toxicology and many other issues plaguing their coral reefs.
After a presentation we left the fishery, and went to lunch in the city. We then drove to the other side of the island to Blue Bay. This is hands down the most beautiful beach I've ever been to. My class hopped into glass bottom boats and sailed above the reef. Once we were out far enough, we jumped out of the boat and snorkeled the reef. It was so fascinating to see these beautiful reefs in person after learning about them in class. After we snorkeled for a bit, we got back in our boats and headed to shore. We got some free time on the beach so we hung out and ate ice cream (for a grade!) It was then sadly time to head back to the ship and bid farewell to the beautiful island of Mauritius.
When we returned to the ship there was a huge BBQ waiting for us! I finally got some mac and cheese after my two month deprivation! It was definitely one of the best days I've had so far.
