Dr. Lawrence was one teacher who will stay with me in my future in regards to working with those with exceptionalities. We had a student in our writing course last semester that had a very severe case of Cerebral Palsy named Logan. He was unable to walk, speak, or do most of the things he loves. There were many occasions were Dr. Lawrence had to adapt so that the student could properly participate and engage in class. She would often split us into smaller groups so Logan wouldn't be stressed out with the entire class hearing him through his iPad or feeling uncomfortable. She gave me the privilege to be able to be in his group for the whole semester. There were many times where Logan would present his papers or Powerpoints to us, but that would be a bit difficult considering his exceptionality. She would allow him to use his own computer and make adjustments to the classroom culture to fit Logan's classroom needs while also fitting the needs of the rest of the students. I believe that she did so many things well with having students with special needs in her course. Dr. Lawrence showed many influencing traits throughout the semester and persevered through the difficulties she faced.
