Ten Hills is a neighborhood full of natural beauty. It offers a suburban feel similar to that of juxtaposed Baltimore County with mature trees beautifying the yards of early 1900s single-family homes fixed along winding, hilly streets. Neighbors are proud to be part of this historic community and work hard to preserve it. A CHAP neighborhood, which stands for The Commission for Historical and Architectural Preservation. That means residents receive tax credits for updating their homes while maintaining the exterior's architectural integrity. With charming houses of diverse architectural styles, some dating back to 1910. These five- and six-bedroom estates are placed on spacious half-acre lots with vast greenery. Colonial Revivals are a common build in Ten Hills, along with English Tudors and American Foursquares.

The Ten Hills Community Association, Inc. was incorporated in 1936 as the legal successor of the Ten Hills Corporation, the original developer of the neighborhood. Its objective is to maintain and foster the family residential environment that has existed in the neighborhood since its founding in 1911.
What does The Association do?
The Ten Hills Community Association organizes, sponsors, and provides services, and performs a number of activates throughout the year, including, but not exclusive to:
Upholding the requirements of the Commission for Historical and Architectural Preservation (CHAP).
Ongoing surveillance of and intervention in, zoning variances, land use plans, traffic patterns, and construction around Ten Hills.
Organization of community dumpster days.
Bigmouth- initiated in 1992. This automated telephone message system alerts residents of urgent news or upcoming events.
Block Party- Initiated in 1990, this end-of-summer picnic has entertainment for every member of the family and brings together Ten Hills residents, old and new.
Luminary Night – A holiday tradition for over 15 years has the community setting out bagged candles on our walkways to celebrate the holiday season. Residents also put white candles in our windows each season.
Coordination of annual Spring Yard Sale day
Association meetings have been held quarterly but the specific dates change. The association uses its social media and other channels to inform residents of upcoming meeting dates, times, and locations.

The Southwestern District is comprised of communities such as Irvington, Edmondson Village, Allendale and Ten Hills. It is the home to the Gwynns Falls Trail and Leakin Park, which together comprise more than 1,000 acres —one of the larger urban wilderness preserves in the United States. The Southwestern District is also home to the historical 300-acre Loudon Park Cemetery, where Union and Confederate graves are located on opposite hills.
