Academic parameters of evaluation

How are academic parameters set?

The parameters are set by the Research Evaluation Board based on

The members of the Board will be provided with necessary data and parameters proposals via email by the date of relevant online meeting.

What are academic parameters?

Academic parameters of evaluation consist of:

  • List of research areas to be subject to bibliometric analysis and/or peer review;

  • The minimum number of outputs that must be peer reviewed in each field to obtain a meaningful assessment of a field;

  • The maximum number of outputs that is sufficient to be peer reviewed in each field to obtain a meaningful assessment of a field;

  • The distinction between "small" and "large" field in terms of total number of outputs. (Peer review quota for small fields will match the minimum number of peer reviewed outputs, large fields will get a higher quota based on an algorithm described in evaluation rules)

  • The list and elements of the use of selected benchmark institutions primarily for the purposes of comparison within the framework of bibliometric analysis.

  • Combinations of fields and units where the relevant unit is not assessed in the given field (due to a very low number of outputs or other reasons).

Note: Academic vs. technical parameters: Academic parameters are determined by the Research Evaluation Board, while technical parameters are set by the Rector as a basic framework in which the evaluation takes place with respect to the considerations and needs of the university (e.g. goals, schedule, budget).
