Wearing a uniform gives youth and adult members a sense of identification and commitment to the goals of character development, citizenship training, and personal fitness. The awards displayed on the uniform mark significant milestones in every Scout and leader’s progress in achieving these goals and successfully practicing Scouting’s ideals.
The Cub Scout uniform should be worn to all Cub Scout activities including, but not limited to, Den Meetings, Pack Meetings, and Outings. In our pack, we require an official BSA Cub Scout shirt with patches placed correctly along with an official Cub Scout neckerchief and a neckerchief slide.
The pack will provide the scout neckerchief, slide and rank badges (i.e., Lion, Bobcat, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos). Parents must provide the shirt, patches, red brag vest, and belt.

Class A Uniform Shirt Sleeve
Note – Webelos use the Den Emblem (or, Patrol) patch, and usually by then the Webelos will switch to a khaki shirt. We typically have the Den number right below the flag, and the patrol patch below that. The Patch on the bottom of the right sleeve can be worn on the bottom of a short sleeve shirt. Webelos Den Leaders also wear their patrol’s patch.
The Webelos Colors (pinned on) is worn through, or on top of, the Den patch on the right sleeve.
Only a small number of patches can be placed on the uniform shirt itself. They are, as follows:
World Crest
This round purple patch is worn above the left pocket and is the symbol of Scouting across the world.
Unit Numerals
The "3", "4" and "1" patches on the left shoulder identify that your Scout is in Pack 341 of Pathway to Adventure Council.
Council Shoulder Patch
The Pathway to Adventure Council patch on the left shoulder identifies the area of the country your Scout resides
Den Number/Patrol Medallion
Tigers, Wolves and Bears wear the den number patch on their right shoulder. Webelos wear their patrol medallion and color ribbons on the right shoulder instead.
Class A Uniform Pocket Patches
Wondering what to do with all of your scout's activity and service Patches? Most of a Cub Scout's activity and service patches go onto their Youth Patch Vest. (Pictured to the left)
The vest can be purchased at the Scout Store or online at scoutstuff.org. Pack 341 is also now offering a lower cost option made by one of our scout moms!
All Cub Scouts, Lions through Arrow of Light Scouts, will wear a Red Brag Vest during their time in Scouting.
There is not a specific place that patches "must" go on the brag vest. It is recommended though that the "Little Woodsmen" 6:1 Hike patches go onto the center of the back of the vest. This patch program is quite large once completed. (Pictured Below)
Based on different topics such as hiking, nature, science, citizenship, first aid, sports, and more, adventures are earned as a Cub Scout advances toward their badge of rank. Once an adventure is completed, a Cub Scout receives recognition in the form of an adventure loop or adventure pin.
Kindergarten through third grade; Lions, Tigers, Wolves, and Bears earn metal adventure loops (shown above). These are designed to slide onto a Cub Scout’s belt. These belt loops do not have to be worn at every event (as they tend to slide off and get lost). Fourth and fifth grade, Webelos, earn metal adventure pins. These pins are placed on the Webelos Colors.
The Adventure Belt Loops should be worn ONLY in the year they earn them on their scout belt. After the year has passed, they can be stored on a display in the scout’s room.
The reason for this is a Lion, Tiger, Wolf and Bear will earn at least 6- 7 belt loops, but can earn 12-20 belt loops. 25-80 belt loops around ANYONE’s waist is a lot, and when you take the belt off, the loops tend to come off too.
Webelos and the Arrow of Light scouts earn pins which they put on their Webelos colors that they wear on the right shoulder. They will earn 11 for sure over two years, but could earn as many as 27.
