The cost of Scouting is a true investment in your child’s education and future. Annual costs associated with Scouting are less than most other youth programs. Our pack does its best to keep all the costs at the lowest they can be. This is accomplished to a large extent by the fundraisers of our Pack and by the Pack Committee’s stewardship of our Pack’s funds. There are, however, some costs you will want to know about.
BSA Membership
Cub Scout Pack 341 current family scout dues are $200 for the 2024-2025 scouting year. This includes the annual membership fee that is due to BSA National, the fee that is collected by our council Pathway to Adventure for insurance costs, plus the annual subscription to ScoutLife magazine ($15). For siblings – the younger scouts are discounted $15 for ScoutLife magazine (only one magazine is needed per household). None of these fees described above stay within Pack 341.
IMPORTANT NOTE ON SCHOLARSHIPS: Pack 341 wants every child to experience the fun of Cub Scouting. Although the cost of joining Cub Scouting is not very expensive, if there is any financial difficulty with the joining fees, or den fees, please contact Committee Chair Jen Harkenrider (jenharkenrider@cubscoutpack341.com) to confidentially discuss the availability of Council and/or Pack scholarship funds.
The uniform is a method of delivering the Scouting program. It shows that you are a member of a team. Each grade has a specific uniform for their program. For more information on the uniform, click here. Uniforms may be purchased through the Pack or at our local scout shops.
Handbook
Each grade level has a specific handbook they use. Handbooks are about $20 and are used for the year. Handbooks have all the required and elective adventures for each rank. Handbooks are NOT required by Pack 341 for each scout, as our Pack relies heavily on the use of Scoutbook.com for advancement tracking, but it can be very useful for the scouts. Scout rank handbooks can be purchased at any of the local scout shops or online at www.scoutshop.org
Activities
Additional activities such as overnight camp outs, field trips, day camps and other outings may have additional costs associated with them. These costs differ based on several factors. Detailed information is provided by the pack leadership prior to the event.
