I’ve packed and unpacked for so many trips, it’s basically become second nature. From red-eye flights to road trips with questionable gas station stops, my travel bag has seen it all, probably too much—and evolved with every catastrophe. These days, I keep it organized, practical, and always aesthetically pleasing. Whether I’m heading off for a girls weekend or a 14-day getaway to Hawaii, I will never
Today, I’m breaking down exactly what’s in my travel bag. I've curated them into three categories: Beauty essentials, travel must-haves, and random necessities!
Let’s be honest... traveling with a full glam setup sounds fun until you’re digging through a bottomless makeup pouch ito find your eyeliner in a hotel bathroom. I like to keep it light and easy, without putting my skin in jeapordy!
My basic skincare routine is always my plus one on a trip. Always keep a gentle cleanser, a hydrating moisturizer, and of course, SPF. I typically consolidate my products into mini reusable containers or invest in travel-sized versions when available (when was the last time you actually used up a full-sized product?). Bonus points if they’re TSA-approved. If you're committed to a specific brand, check out their travel-sized sets!
I love products that do serve double (or triple) purpose. A tinted lip balm that can double as a blush? Yes, please. A shimmery highlighter that takes the shadow out of eyeshadow? Even better. They save space and time. My personal favorite multi-use product is the Rare Beauty Liquid Blush! This product is tiny (but never seems to run out), has crazy pigment, and can double as a lip stain!
Tired of slick backs after Day 4? I feel you... I keep a small bottle of dry shampoo to revive my hair between washes and a mini styling cream for stubborn flyaways. You’ll never catch me on Day 3 with a matted-down slick back or greasy attempted blowout...
When it comes to makeup, I bring only the items I truly use. For me, that’s:
Tinted moisturizer or BB cream
Brow gel
Mascara
Concealer
A neutral lipstick that doubles as blush
That’s it. No heavy palettes. You say you're going to use that eyeshadow palette, but let's admit it, you won't...
Whether I’m snapping pics for the blog or trying to catch up on a Netflix show mid-flight, a solid tech setup is a game changer. You have to stay connected, charged, and not using your crappy hotel wifi!
I double-check for my charger like my life depends on it. I am not going to be that random person in the airport lounge begging a stranger to use their charger for ten minutes. If you're traveling internationally, bring a universal power bank. There's nothing worse than being lost and dead.
It sucks when you're travelling and a random baby (or yours) starts screaming bloody murder. To avoid that torture (for you at least), being a pair of earbuds, bonus points if they're noise-cancelling. You can avoid your eardrums bursting, as well as listen to your favorite music. It's a win-win!
I know that I'm a strong advocate of "Don't need it? Don't bring it!", but playing cards are always a must (for me, that is). Whether it's a 10-hour road trip, a delayed flight, or a long layover, it's never too soon for a game of Egyptian War or Solitaire!
You WILL get thirsty on the plane, and you WON'T want to drink airplane water (because they rarely clean the water filter), so do yourself a favor and bring your water bottle. If you bring an empty water bottle (because you can't have anything in your water bottle when going through TSA), you can get past TSA and fill it up at the water refill station before getting on the plane! Even if you don't typically drink water, bring some electrolytes to make it more tasty!
There you have it! You will never miss anything (anything too important that is), using my top-notch travel bag essentials list. Use this for your next weekend getaway, family vacation, or overnight work trip, and thank me later. God bless and Live Loud!
