Like I said at the beginning of this blog series, maintaining a healthy beauty routine is not cheap... While I don't get complimented too much on this, I feel that I have a solid yet affordable everything-shower routine... At least one worth sharing! So here's my everything shower routine!!
I cannot express enough how important it is to exfoliate before showering! Whether it's using an exfoliating glove, a sugar scrub, or even a body oil, exfoliating is crucial because it removes dead skin cells from the pores of your legs, preventing ingrown hairs and strawberry legs! Tree Hut is a very affordable brand with amazing results and great scents... They sell sugar scrubs, body butter, body washes, lip balms, and face washes!
It's important to shave as soon as you can after exfoliating to prevent re-clogging of your pores. Make sure to use shaving cream (preferably one with aloe to keep from razor burns), and a razor with as few blades as possible. While razors with fewer blades are more likely to cut you, having multiple more blades will mean that clean skin cells are getting shaved off, giving you razor burns... Yeah... That's painful.
I don't know what it is, but something about double-cleansing your scalp during an everything-shower is beyond compare.
My personal favorite is this purple shampoo by Eva NYC! It is powered by UV rays, meaning that sunlight brings blonde tones to your hair. Typically, I do my first cleanse with a scalp massager, removing all dirt and grime from my scalp. During my second round, I go in with my hands to clean the skin on my scalp! After that, I go in with the conditioner that comes with the duo, giving my silky and smooth hair!
While this isn't as crucial as double cleansing your scalp, double cleansing with face wash is very beneficial! Starting with an oil-based cleanser (my favorite is from MCoBeauty), squirt it directly on your dry skin, and rub it in a circular motion into your pores, and you will physically see the sebum (gunk from your pores) on your hands. Then, you wet your face and emulsify your cleanser, or make it foamy on your face. Once you rinse that off, use a cream or foam cleanser (I get mine from Cetaphil) to ensure everything is off! Your skin will feel like a baby's heinie...
Not literally... close your eyes after you moisturize! 😆
Moisturize your legs while your skin is still wet; don't dry your legs until after you've applied lotion. When your skin is wet, your skin cells seem to be more permeable (thin or soft), meaning that they absorb moisture better when they're wet!
Now you can close your eyes... 😉
If you use this everything shower routine, you will leave the shower feeling like a brand new woman. Let me know if you use it on our contact form, and I'll feature your response on this page... God bless, and Live Loud!
