5 Minute Makeup Routine

Let's face it... sometimes, doing a full face of flawless makeup everyday for school (like you planned to do at the beginning of the year) is too much. It gets cakey, feels heavy, and you ultimately don't have the time to do it every morning. Here is my simple (6 step) makeup routine for school that only takes 5 minutes of my morning, as well as my product suggestions!

Step 1: Primer

Even if you aren't wearing a heavy layer of foundation, primer is insanely important for every makeup look. It hydrates your skin, as well as provides a sticky or hydrated base for your makeup to cling to. It prevents creasing (when your makeup gathers into the natural lines of your face, causing your makeup to appear streaky) and pilling (when product under your makeup forms small clumps on your face) of your makeup! Here are my product suggestions!

The ELF Skin Power Grip Primer is a very cheap tacky (sticky) primer. It is made for all skin types and skin tones.

The NYX Face Glue is a cheap primer option if you are looking for a more hydrated grip. It has a 24-hour hold and is also made for all skin types and tones.

The MCoBeauty Makeup Grip Primer is pricier but has an amazing grip. It favors all skin types but was made particularly for oily and dry skin types.

The Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser is VERY cheap and does a great job at blurring your pores. This is perfect for normal and dry skin!

Step 2: Concealer

Even if you don't have dark circles under your eyes, concealer is crucial for brightening your skin and covering any flaws. It is important to use it under your eyes (like I said, even if you don't have eye bags) to give the impression that you are not tired. You can also use it to cover "flaws" like pimples, acne scars, or dark spots! Here are some of my favorite concealers!

The Maybelline Fit Me Concealer is a great affordable choice if you are looking for a hydrating full-coverage concealer.

The Tarte Shape Tape Concealer is a bit pricier, but has a great coverage, buildable formula, and an amazing shade variety!

The NARS Soft Matte Pocket Concealer is a great name brand concealer with high-coverage and requires little product.

The Kosas Revealer Concealer is insanely hydrating, brightening, and depuffing. It has full-coverage and get overall great reviews!

Step 3: Blush

Blush blindness is not a thing here. Blush is super important to add a flush of color and warmth to the face. It adds dimension to your face, transforming your look from simple to youthful and healthy! Placement is important. Depending on your face shape and your desired outcome, you might need to use different forms of blush, shades, or placements. Here are my recommendations!

The Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush is one you cannot miss! It is hydrating, extremely pigmented, and will last you at least a year or two!

The Covergirl Trublend Powder Blush is one of my favorites! It is very pigmented, has highlight in it, and gives a youthful touch!

The Rhode Pocket Blush comes in so many shades! It has such a strong pigment, is hydrating, and can also be used as lip and eye tint!

The NYX Buttermelt Blush is super cheap! It glides on the skin like butter (hence the name) and is one of the most pigmented products I own!

Step 4: Powder

No matter how much or little makeup you're wearing, setting your makeup is essential when preventing creasing. It's important to set your under eyes so you concealer doesn't crease or crack. You can also use setting powder anywhere your skin tends to produce excess oils, like on and around your nose, your chin, and your T-zone (forehead area). The Maybelline Fit Me Setting Powder comes in loose powder and pressed powder form! It's affordable and controls shine well.

The Huda Beauty Easy Bake Setting Powder has the best blurring effect and absorbs oil effortlessly!

The ELF Halo Glow Setting powder also comes and loose and pressed powder form! It is great at smoothing your skin down!

The MCoBeauty Miracle Flawless Pressed Powder is an exact dupe of the Charlotte Tilbury Powder. Use this if you want a sheer finish.

Step 5: Mascara

Mascara is an essential part of my makeup routine. I wholeheartedly believe that if the world were limited to one makeup product, mascara would be the one to choose. It lengthens, darkens, and volumizes your lashes, giving a more awakened illusion. And curling your lashes before mascara... don't get me started. There are so many different types of mascara, like waterproof, tubing, defining, and fiber mascaras. Check out my favorites!

The L'Oreal Paris Telescopic Mascara is one you cannot miss! It gives your lashes length, volume, and separation.

The Maybelline Sky High Mascara gives a lengthy and voluminous illusion to your eyes! It comes in waterproof and tubing.

The Essence Lash Princess Mascara gives a curled, long, and sculpted lash! It comes in both waterproof and tubing.

The Covergirl Clump Crusher is extactly what it sounds like. It separates your lashes and doubles the volume.

Step 6: Lip Balm or Gloss

I'm gonna be honest, I get weirded out when people have dry or cracked lips. I mean... how could you not be bothered by your own crusty lips? I always want to have a lip balm or lip gloss that hydrates and soothes my lips. What if I were to randomly have my first kiss that day? I want to moisturized, not flaky.

The Laneige Lip Glowy Balm gives you the glossiest, most moisturized lips consistently. The variety of flavors is insane!

The NYX Fat Oil Lip Drip is iconic. It's glossy, nourishing, and creamy. The shade variety is so big for this one too!
