There’s something magical about Saturdays in the summer. The light lingers longer, the world feels a little slower, and it’s the perfect time to pour back into yourself. For me, Summer Self-Care Saturdays have become a non-negotiable — a sacred little routine to reset my body, calm my mind, and give my skin (and soul) some extra love. Most people call this ritual "Self-Care Sunday, but I like to pamper myself before Sunday, so I can look and feel my best at church on Sundays!
If you’ve been feeling a little burnt out by the heat, the hustle, or just life in general, I hope this inspires you to carve out your own version of a Sunday ritual. Here’s what mine looks like:
I'm a busy girl, so sometimes, I can't devote my entire Saturday to pamper myself and relax. Typically, I will start my Self-Care Saturday after dinner. I'll eat, then wind down a bit by scrolling for a few minutes (just to get me calm, NO DOOM SCROLLING), and then I'll journal! It gets you in the mood of reflection and relaxation. For the past month or so, I've been using this 30 Day Journaling Challenge and writing a prompt each Saturday. It gives me the chance to discover more about myself and take me mind off the stressors of life!
Nothing shouts "Self-Care Saturday" like an everything shower does! Light your favorite candle, play your "Hot-Girl Playlist", and crank up that steamy shower. Here are my steps!
I start every "Everything Shower" by exfoliating with the My Beauty Spot Watermelon Sugar Scrub. It removes dead skin and unclogs pores!
I follow the exfoliating with a fresh shave! I use whatever razor is available to me (😂), and I use either a shaving cream or shaving oil!
I then double cleanse with the Eva NYC Tone It Down Blonde Shampoo. I cleanse once with my fingers, and once with a scalp massager!
After cleansing, I will use the pairing Eva NYC Tone It Down Blonde Conditioner. I leave it in while I am using my body wash/shower gel.
I then use the Dove Deep Moisture Body Wash because it is moisturizing, and the only brand that doesn't make my sensitive skin break out!
Lastly, I finish off my everything shower by washing my face with the CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser, for my dermatologist recommended it for me.
Bonus Tip: Make sure you use a thick and moisturizing body butter after getting out of the shower to soothe any irritation the blade may have caused when shaving! 🪒✨
These Saturdays are dedicated to steps and rituals that I often don't have time for. In this case, we are making up for all of the missed skincare we skipped this week!
The Medicube Collagen Night Wrapping Mask is a much needed step for these Saturday evenings. It replenishes your pores and gives you glass skin!
The Hero Cosmetics Mighty Patch Blemish Patch is your absolute dream if you want to get rid of pimples or acne scars overnight!
The Ordinary's Lactic Acid Serum is great for gently exfoliating the skin without irritating dry or sensitive skin!
Any of the Skin Gym Face Ice Treatment products are perfect for depuffing your face, targeting acne scars, and minimizing hyperpigmentation!
This step isn't the most enjoyable one, but it is therapeutic! Give your room a quick tidy-up before going back to "spa night". This will help relieve stress and set yourself up for a more productive week! Think...
Pick up all dirty laundry from the ground, and start it in the wash
Pick up any clutter on the ground or misplaced items
Wipe of surfaces (dresser, nightstand, desk)
Strip bed sheets to clean and replace them
Make your bed
While it isn't fun in the moment, it is like a breath of fresh air when you're done!
Self care isn't about sheet masks and bubble baths (while I do find those relaxing). It's about giving yourself a day (or afternoon) to rest! It's treating yourself, listening to your body and mind, and choosing to slow down. So if nobody has told you yet: You don't have to earn rest. You're allowed to take up space, take care of yourself, and glow gently!
Here's to your next Summer Self-Care Saturday- you deserve it! 💗
