SCOTUS Rules Against Bans on Conversion Therapy for LGBTQ Americans
Yesterday's news was so disturbing that we felt the need to share some commentary that you may not have seen.
The NYTimes gave the ruling front page real estate but the news article, just like their front page reporting on the No Kings Protest, was a real disappointment.
Times readers immediately expressed their concerns. Here are letters from a New York psychiatrist and an internal medicine physician from Pennsylvania:
Note: The second Globe piece is especially important.
For an interesting and informative analysis , please read the post from Jennifer Levi.
Jennifer L. Levi is a Professor of Law at Western New England University and the Director of the Transgender Rights Project at GLBTQ Legal Advocates and Defenders (GLAD).
In 2003, gay marriage was legalized in Massachusetts, setting precedent for the rest of the country. The landmark case (Goodridge v. Ddepartment of Public Health) was litigated by Jennifer Levi.

Trailer (2:11)
Note: The film is available on Netflix, Amazon Prime and YouTube.
Boy Erased (2018)
Not sure how many of you saw the 2018 film, Boy Erased, or read the book by the same name. Both are based on the life of Garrard Conley, primarily his experience in a conversion therapy program. The film, starring Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe, is worth a watch. The trailer provides a glimpse. The article on the right is an interview with Conley about Tuesday's ruling.
Not related directly to the Conversion Therapy ruling is another post you may find interesting, and moving. Charlotte Clymer is a trans woman whose substack we follow. She writes on a variety of topics, not only those associated with LGBTQ issues. In this post she explains why she isn't feeling particularly gratified by the recent revelation concerning Kristi Noem's husband.
What she actually does is share the reflections, and despair, of a trans woman on the Trans Day of Visibility (March 31).
