"The Librarians" is a must-see film!
The good news is that it's now showing at the Coolidge Corner Theater (Dec 22and 23, with 3 showings per day) and will begin at the West Newton Theater on Christmas Day, running each day through January 1 at 4:15.
Even better, it will premier on PBS Independent Lens in February.

IS THIS WHERE WE'RE HEADED?
The New York Times, May 9, 1933
The destruction of Magnus Hirschfeld's Institute for Sexual Science by Nazis in 1933 was a catastrophic setback for early sexology, LGBTQ+ rights, and gender studies, as it involved public burning of vast archives, books, and patient records, erasing foundational knowledge on sex, gender identity (coining "transvestism"), and non-normative sexuality, effectively halting progressive research and traumatizing sexual minorities for decades. This act of "memoricide" by the Nazi regime, targeting Jewish intellectuals and sexual reformers, destroyed pioneering work that viewed gender as distinct from sex and challenged homosexuality as illness, setting back queer liberation and gender science globally.
