One thing we can all do, and do right away, is target our spending.   Use this page to locate Black-owned businesses: some local ones that group members have suggested and some that have been identified by others.  If you shop at a Black-owned business and would like to recommend it,  please write a few words, send their website or other identifying information, and we'll highlight it on the page.

Ellen also recommended DIOP, Diaspora Inspired Streetwear  at https://weardiop.com/ . Their masks are beautiful!  (They're actually located  in Detroit but accessible via your computer.)

Studio 24 Graphix Printing, a Boston graphics and printing company specializing in high-end custom designs.   https://www.studio24graphix.com/

She also recommended the Level Up, Fitness and Wellness Center in Waltham . Their website has a blog and even offers online training.              https://levelupresults.com/

                     https://frugalbookstore.net/

This is a great independent bookstore in  Roxbury.

Their customer service is wonderful. I called them up to order "Stacey...",   spoke to a human and not a recording, had a lovely chat, and got some books.  If they don't have a book, they'll order it.            --Jan

"Leonard and Clarrissa have been operating the bookstore successfully as a family and have dedicated themselves to not only building a business that they hope one day will be looked at as one of this community’s staples, but also as a major contribution to the uplift of literacy within it."                                                        -- from their website

Linda Braun recommended shopping at Frugal for a book she really enjoyed reading to a couple of preschool boys who liked it a lot. The author is a friend of hers!
