Exmouth Arts

Exmouth Community Arts

In my Connect on Thursday talk on 27 August 2020, I posed the question: Why do many other towns in Devon have their own arts centre – but Exmouth with such a large population does not? The main reason seems to be that we are fortunate to have in Exmouth a wide range of venues ranging from large premises such as the Pavilion and The Ocean to small pubs, which between them form a sort of “distributed” arts centre.

In the past I have tried to see what is available to help us learn about Exmouth community arts, in particular what organisations and groups there are in Exmouth, and what events are taking place. I didn’t find anything that brings all of this together in one place - and so in 2019 I created the Exmouth Community Arts website. This is with the aim of promoting and encouraging the performing and visual arts in Exmouth, and sharing local information.

Just click or tap on this link to go to this website: https://www.exmoutharts.co.uk. Then you can select the subject area that interests you - art, dance, film, literature, music or theatre. There are also separate sections with links to websites for venues, local arts-related groups and organisations and other listings websites which include local arts events. There are also arts-related topics of interest.

I have done an updated version of my presentation, and you can see this by clicking or tapping on the section or image below or here - Exmouth Arts presentation.

I have now also set up this Exmouth Arts section on our u3a’s Connect & Learn website – and the link to this page https://sites.google.com/view/connectandlearn/exmouth-arts. You will see there that I have also put on it an edited version of my presentation if you would like to see this.

Here are four ways to find out more or to join in:
