What is the Exmouth & District u3a Connect & Learn Group?

The Exmouth & District u3a Connect & Learn Group is an exciting and radically different group which will have no limit on the number of members. Everyone who belongs to Exmouth and District u3a is most welcome to join! The direction it will go in will be driven by the wishes and needs of our members. It's a dynamic new group which will be taking full advantage of 21st century technology.

The aim of the Connect & Learn Group is to offer all members opportunities to benefit from a very wide variety of online learning, to suit all interests and tastes. We will share and recommend a range of online learning resources which are high quality, free and easily accessible. All you need is an email address and access to the internet via a computer, tablet or smartphone. And this will be very flexible as you can do this from the convenience and comfort of your own home - or from anywhere else in the world - at any time to suit yourself.

Using this website,  our own designated online platform, we will feature a variety of topics and some recommended online resources. This will be supplemented with email circulation for those members who would like this. These resources include:

    • Online courses

    • Videos

    • Podcasts and other audio

    • Apps

    • Blogs and articles

    • ejournals

    • ebooks

This gives us plenty of opportunity for individual learning in a very flexible way. There are also opportunities to have virtual meetings online and share learning together. So, if we wish, members may take this to another level and also arrange conversations and discussions about these resources and other connected learning, and share their own learning and learn from each other. These conversations could include:

• • • Issues about accessing resources

    • Content of the learning, sharing members' own learning, knowledge and experience

    • Further recommendations, suggestions and ideas

If members choose to do this, they will have a wide choice of how to share their learning, knowledge, experience. These conversations could take place in a variety of ways:

• • • One-to-one conversations - by phone, by video call (e.g. Zoom, Skype, FaceTime, WhatsApp etc), email or text.

    • Small group discussions - by group video calls or phone conference calls

    • Larger group discussions - by using social media such as our Exmouth & District u3a Facebook Group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/exmouthU3A/),  or possibly WhatsApp or Twitter groups

    • The wider community - e.g. via Twitter (using the hashtag #connectandlearn) and the national u3a organisation.

The choice is entirely up to you.

 So the Connect & Learn Group will evolve and grow in whatever way you, its members, wish to see. Flexible learning, with others, at its best - and it's all free!
