My 2014 Evo X Build Part III

After an extremely adrenaline and high octane fueled summer it was time for school to start again at Oregon State University where my week days would be filled with work and school and my weekends filled with homework. So this was the time where I started thinking about building the car a little bit.......oh and I picked up some KW Clubsports and Vorschlag camber plates for a price I just couldn't pass up.

Anyways the car I felt needed a safer tune for the weekend motorsports events rather than just an off the shelf map from cobb. So I began doing research on parts for the Evo X with a couple of conditions in mind.

1. Discrete

2. Affordable ( No Akrapovic sorry)

3. Streetable

What I mean by streetable is that it is for the most part an increase in perfromance but does not affect the overall reliability of the car as well as keeps the car almost or completely street legal. So rather than going for a catless exhaust I got one with a high flow cat as my car is still a daily and I like that it doesn't reak of exhaust gases. Anyways I began stockpiling bits and pieces until I had everything I needed around December 2015 just a little over one year of ownership and 10,000 miles.

Here are my parts:

Cobb Accessport

ETS V2 Catback

Grimmspeed EBCS

AEM Intake

Invidia High Flow Catted DP

When I mentioned discrete above this is what I was referring to. A clean and simple engine bay that resembles stock. Also peep the Ralliart engine cover (OEM all black)

All of this together with a proper tune from the awesome guys over at Cobb Tuning Surgeline put the car at a healthy and reliable 339WHP 353WTQ with 26psi of boost from the stock turbo.

I drove the car around like this for a couple of months and I have to say traveling to the coast for work and driving some of the back roads this car is a blast. Anyways in late January and early Febraury I began thinking and talking with friends about the up coming auto x season so I decdide it was time to head back to Massee farms tuning for a suspension install and scheduled a corner balance and alignment for the next day at AR Auto Service in Lake Oswego.

I also added an Odyssey battery for some needed weight reduction before the corner balance. This battery eliminated 24lbs just by itself.

The car sat quite nice after the coilover install. I also had 35% window tint installed all around by Norms Tinting in Salem he did a great job.

The car then went up to AR Auto Service for a proper setup. I strongly recommend these guys as the car felt night and day after they worked their magic on it. Check them out here: https://www.ar-motorsports.com/

Anyways this is how the car currently sits. I have owned the car for a little over a year and two months just crossing over the 11,000 mile mark and I have to say it may not be the most comfortable or practical daily but it sure is the most fun I have ever had in a car. Stay tuned for updates as we are getting closer to auto x and track day season. I have signed up for the ORP track day on March 2nd so maybe I'll see a few of you out there. I think I will end with the great hashtag #GetOutAndDrive.
