We have been feeling like our school needed to refocus and remember our compelling why when it comes to us working through and establishing our processes for MTSS. I set up an assignment prior to our staff meeting today. They were to watch the video from Module 1(21 minute video) that summarizes MTSS and answer three questions on SLACK. Then today at our staff meeting, I gave them the task to "wRAP up" the MTSS video they watched using FLIPGRID. I thought I would share what we had done with you!
I recorded mine first as an example for the staff and then broke them off into teams to create their own summaries.

Our team actually looks forward to completing modules because we set aside an entire day, get catered lunch, and lock the door! This quarter we are tackling module 3 on a teacher work day as most reg. ed. teachers will be writing progress reports and no children will be on campus. We prioritize one day so we can bring up ideas or concerns and have as much time as needed to come to consensus on solutions. We share ideas as the year goes along, but we tend to forget good ideas we hear passing each other in the hallway between putting out fires and teaching.
Including regular ed teachers has been the most difficult as we have varying levels of experience and those who would give the best input are the same one busy lesson planning and utilizing instructional time efficiently. We instead chose to include grade-band teachers who can speak for colleagues across K-8. The rest of our team is the school psychologist (whom we contract as needed), the counselor (who runs MTSS meetings), the principal, the reading specialist, myself (EC Coordinator), and an EC teacher.

Blue Grass Charter School has developed a website that they use with their school staff. They developed the site to:
1. Present a vision and a possible pathway for school staff. The website houses our mission and vision and 5 year plan along with a proposal for how our school was going to begin this process of creating layers of support. So it started all with the homepage! Once the idea was there I presented to our staff to get consensus. Here's our parameters...here's the idea....what do you guys think? It is edited as we hit or miss marks or even add things we didn't know we'd be doing.
2. Provide a place to keep the dream and pathway visible and provide resources (DPI training resources, short PLC conversation opportunities, videos for paradigm reflection, proposals and surveys for action steps, etc.) and a place to house our efforts so we can see our growth as the years go and the website builds. It's an easy place to go back to and edit when we find something needs to be tweeked and it helps keep everyone informed. Are we reaching our goal? Are we on track? let's see.
