Intaglio - Engraved history
Drawing from ideas of carving and vernacular architecture in wine cellars, intaglio creates a depression in a public space, offering a performing and community space. The minimal fingerprint of the space allows for focus to be given to the surrounding landscape, and material choices of tuffa draw contextual relationships to the local architecture. The overall geometry is generated from the superstructure of the local area, further emphasizing site-specific choices.
