As we present Volume 15, Issue 3 of our Newsletter, we reflect on the success of our previous issue, Volume 15, Issue 2. The accompanying newsletter highlighted key programs and innovative educational strategies. Our readers' engagement with the last issue's content was truly remarkable, and we are grateful for the feedback and active participation we received.
We are also proud to share exciting news from the Chalapathi Educational Society. This esteemed institution has expanded its educational landscape by establishing the Chalapathi College of Pharmacy at Motadaka, Amaravathi Road, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. This new initiative marks a significant step in fostering quality pharmaceutical education and research in the region, and we look forward to seeing the academic contributions this college will make to the broader educational and healthcare communities.

Campus Gazette:
We are delighted to share that National Pharmacovigilance Week was celebrated with great enthusiasm on our campus from 17th to 23rd September 2024. This year’s theme, “Building ADR Reporting Culture for Patient Safety,” emphasized the importance of reporting Adverse Drug Reactions (ADR) and fostering a culture of vigilance to enhance patient safety.
The week featured a variety of engaging activities designed to educate and inspire students about the critical role of pharmacovigilance in healthcare.
Painting Competition: Participants creatively depicted the importance of ADR reporting and patient safety through their artwork. The competition showcased thought-provoking and visually compelling pieces that captured the essence of the theme.
Cinematic Videos and Skits: Students displayed their dramatic talents through skits and short films focused on patient counseling, ADR reporting, and patient safety. These performances were both educational and entertaining, leaving a lasting impression on the audience.
Leaflet Designing Competition: Students designed informative and visually appealing leaflets aimed at raising awareness about ADR reporting and the role of patient counseling in improving safety. These leaflets will be distributed to promote continuous awareness about pharmacovigilance.
Hands-On Training: A special training session on ADR reporting, basics in pharmacovigilance, and the role of IPC-pVPI was conducted for 70 B.Sc. Nursing students from GGH on 20th September 2024. This interactive session provided practical insights and enhanced their understanding of pharmacovigilance.
Rally: On 21st September 2024, a rally was organized from CLPT to Lam Village. The event aimed to engage the community and emphasize the importance of ADR reporting and patient safety at the grassroots level.
Skill Development Programmes:
09.09.2024: The Department of Pharmacology organized a Skill Development Course titled "Recent Trends in Experimental Pharmacology and Analysis of Herbal Drugs." This course provided participants with practical exposure to advanced pharmacological research and insights into the analysis of herbal drugs, enhancing their knowledge and skills in these fields.
01.10.2024 & 03.10.2024: A two-day Skill Development Course on "Structural Elucidation and Quantification of Pharmaceutical Compounds Using Different Analytical Techniques" was conducted for IV/IV B.Pharmacy students, equipping them with expertise in modern analytical methods.
24.10.2024: The Regulatory Affairs Department conducted a Skill Development Course on "Cyber Security of Medical Devices" was held for M.Pharm - Regulatory Affairs students, offering critical knowledge on protecting medical device data in the digital age. 23.10.2024 - 25.10.2024: a three-day Skill Development Course was conducted on "Software as Medical Devices (SaMD)," focusing on the role of software in modern healthcare and regulatory compliance.
26.10.2024: The Department of Pharmaceutics hosted a Skill Development Course on "Advances in Formulation and Evaluation of Novel Drug Delivery Systems" for IV/IV B. Pharmacy and III/VI Pharm. D students, emphasizing innovative approaches to drug formulation and evaluation.
28.10.2024 - 29.10.2024: The Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis organized a two-day program on "Microwave Synthesis of Benzocaine" for III/VI Pharm.D students, providing hands-on training in advanced synthesis techniques. 01.11.2024: A Skill Development Course on "Modern Techniques in Synthesis and Analysis of Drugs" was conducted for III/VI Pharm.D students, focusing on cutting-edge strategies in drug synthesis and analytical processes.
Awareness Programmes:
Women's Cell Initiatives at CLPT
4th September 2024: The Women's Cell at CLPT organized a vibrant event exclusively for girl students featuring poetry, photography, painting, and an exhibition on the theme "Women Safety at Workplace & Gender Equality, Sensitization." The event provided a platform for creative expression and raised awareness on important social issues.
1st October 2024: An awareness session titled "Yogatham Surya Namaskar and Its Importance" was conducted for all girl students to promote physical and mental well-being.
26th October 2024: The Women's Cell conducted a Breast Cancer Awareness Program for girl students, followed by a session on seasonal outbreaks, coordinated by III/VI Pharm.D students in collaboration with PMBJAK (Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadi Kendra).
28th November 2024: A special event on "Entrepreneurship, Leadership Styles, Work-Life Balance, and Mentoring" was held, empowering girl students with essential life and professional skills.
Public Consultation Survey
25th September 2024: Faculty members actively participated in the Public Consultation Survey titled "Inviting Ideas for Swarna Andhra 2047," an initiative led by the Collector of Guntur District to envision the future of Andhra Pradesh.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October 2024)
The ISPOR India Amaravati Regional Chapter, in collaboration with ISPOR ANU Student Chapter, organized a Video Making Competition throughout October on the theme of Breast Cancer Awareness.
Safe Medicine Usage Conference
5th November 2024: A two-day conference on the safe and efficient use of medicines was conducted. Prof. R.S. Thakur, retired Secretary of the Pharmacy Council of India, emphasized the importance of drug nomenclature in ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and effective medical usage during the event.
Library Events
12th November 2024: The CLPT Library organized the "Cover Page Challenge" as part of National Pharmacy Week celebrations.
15th November 2024: A library book exhibition showcased a diverse range of academic and pharmaceutical literature.
National Pharmacy Week Celebrations (18th-22nd November 2024)
18th November 2024: IPA Lam Local Branch, in collaboration with Alumni and ISPOR Amaravati Chapter, hosted a Caption Writing Competition and the Pharmacist Oath Ceremony.
19th November 2024: A Spell Bee Competition and a Plantation Program were conducted to promote linguistic skills and environmental awareness.
20th November 2024: A Pharma Rangoli competition added color and creativity to the celebrations.
22nd November 2024: A Health and Medical Awareness Program was organized at the CLPT Bus Stop, engaging the public in health education.
Competitions and Events
28th December 2024: The Department of Pharmacy Practice organized the National Pharma Quiz 2024, inviting participation from B. Pharmacy and Pharm. D students.
27-12-2024: CLPT in association with The State Board of technical education and training, Andhra Pradesh and Kings institute of fire and safety engineers organized Special training course on Fire Fighting for first respondents. Mr. G. Narayana acted as trainer during this session.
Commemorative Days:
Teacher’s Day Celebration
5th September 2024: CLPT celebrated Teacher’s Day with a vibrant event organized by the Cultural Committee. Activities like Antakshari and a quiz brought together students and faculty, making the day both enjoyable and memorable.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month Initiatives
7th September 2024: The Department of Pharmacy Practice launched an online quiz for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, themed "No one should face breast cancer alone," to promote awareness and early detection.
30th October 2024: A mega rally was organized in GGH, Guntur, by the Department of Pharmacy Practice, in association with NATCO Cancer Center and Government Nursing College. The rally emphasized the importance of breast cancer awareness.
World Literacy Day Rally
9th September 2024: NSS Unit-I at CLPT organized a rally from Chalapathi Nagar to Lam Village in observance of World Literacy Day. Volunteers engaged with villagers to highlight the transformative power of education.
World Suicide Prevention Day
10th September 2024: The Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy Practice hosted a guest lecture by Dr. I. Sri Ramya, MD Psychiatry, Director of Manasa Hospital, Guntur. The lecture focused on mental health awareness and suicide prevention strategies.
World Mental Health Day Observances
15th September 2024: An e-poster competition marked the occasion, with Chalapathi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences securing the first and third prizes, while CR Reddy College of Pharmacy won second place.
8th October 2024: Dr. Sai Krishna, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychiatry, Guntur Medical College, delivered a guest lecture on mental health at the workplace. The event also included an e-poster competition.
World Patient Safety Day
19th September 2024: A rally at Natco Cancer Center, GGH Guntur, marked the day as part of National Pharmacovigilance Week 2024. The event featured participation from healthcare professionals and Pharm.D students, emphasizing patient safety.
National Pharmacovigilance Week (20th-23rd September 2024)
20th September 2024: Hands-on training sessions on ADR reporting and pharmacovigilance basics were provided to 70 B.Sc. Nursing students. Competitions like essay writing and debates engaged B.Pharmacy and Pharm.D students.
23rd September 2024: Students presented posters on the theme "Building ADR Reporting Culture for Patient Safety" at Guntur Medical College, organized by IPC-PVPI-GMC-AMC.

1st October 2024: NSS Units I & II marked International Non-Violence Day with awareness programs.
31st October 2024: National Unity Day was celebrated with a rally at Thadikonda Village.
World Stroke Day
29th October 2024: IV/VI Pharm.D students conducted an awareness session on World Stroke Day, emphasizing the theme "Be Greater Than Stroke."
World Diabetes Day
14th November 2024: The Department of Pharmacy Practice, in association with the Department of General Medicine, GGH, Guntur, conducted an awareness program on the theme "Diabetes and Well-being." Pharm.D students counseled patients on lifestyle changes, adherence, and quality of life improvement.

26th November 2024: NSS Unit-I celebrated Samvidhan Divas with a Constitution pledge ceremony, emphasizing constitutional values.
World AIDS Day
1st December 2024: Students participated in a mega rally from DMHO to Government Women’s College, Guntur. A session titled "Take the Right Path: My Health, My Right" was organized by PMBJAK-CLPT and ISPOR India Amaravati Student Chapter.
World Human Rights Day
10th December 2024: An essay competition on the theme "Human Rights: A Path for Solution" was held to underscore the importance of human rights in addressing global issues.

Faculty Development Program (FDP) on DoE and Publishing Skills
17th-24th September 2024, 4:30 PM to 5:00 PM: The Departments of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Analysis conducted a week-long FDP titled "Refining DoE Techniques and Publishing Skills." This program aimed to equip participants with advanced Design of Experiments (DoE) techniques and enhance academic publishing capabilities, fostering impactful research output.

12th September 2024: The Department of Pharmaceutics organized a focused training program on the use of spray dryers, providing hands-on knowledge and practical applications for faculty members.
Workshop on Ethical Guidelines in Small Animal Models
14th-15th September 2024: Faculty and students from the Department of Pharmacology attended a two-day workshop on "Welfare and Ethical Guidelines in Surgical Small Animal Model Development for Pharma and Biomedical Research" at GITAM School of Pharmacy, Visakhapatnam, emphasizing ethical practices in research.

In celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi, students at CLPT showcased their creativity by crafting a stunning eco-friendly Ganesha idol, merging tradition with sustainability. The event was organized by the Cultural and Sports Committee, highlighting the importance of environmental consciousness.

The NSS Unit-I organized a "Campus Clean" initiative focusing on Medicinal Gardens 3 and 4, promoting cleanliness and environmental stewardship within the campus.
2nd December 2024
A chess training center was inaugurated by Mr. Y.V. Raghaveyya, Physical Director. Additionally, Chalapathi students proudly represented Acharya Nagarjuna University Women's Chess Team at the South Zonal Inter-University Chess Competition held at GITAM University, Visakhapatnam, from 6th to 8th December.
Blood Donation Camp
NSS Units I & II, in collaboration with HDFC Bank and IPA-Alumni, organized a blood donation camp at CLPT. A total of 131 units of blood were donated to Guntur Government Hospital, underscoring the institute's commitment to community welfare and healthcare support.
National Pharma Quiz 2024
28th December 2024 National Pharma Quiz 2024 was conducted with a theme Test your Pharmacy knowledge. Dr. Vijay Kotra, Associate Professor and Head of the Department, Pharmaceutical Chemistry,Quest International University,IPOH, Malaysia and Dr. Nagesh Battlapenumarthi, Cunselling Psychlogist, Inspirational Speaker life Skills Coach, Caption Writer, Solutions acted as a chief Guest.
Awards and achievements:
CIPS-AMC received the Best Appreciation Award from IPC-PvPI for the second consecutive time as the Best ICSR Reporting Center among Pharmacy Colleges during National Pharmacovigilance Week 2024, held from 17th to 23rd September 2024.
Principal and Professor Rama Rao Nadendla was bestowed with the esteemed "APTI Principal of the Year Award 2024" on 19th September 2024, recognizing his outstanding contributions to academia and leadership. Adding to this remarkable achievement, he has been selected as a "Senior Scientist" by The Association of Biotechnology and Pharmacy, an honor that underscores his significant impact on research and innovation. This prestigious title will be officially conferred during the 18th Annual Convocation of Mangalyadas University, Uttar Pradesh, slated to take place from 19th to 21st December 2024. Prof Rama Rao participated as expert in Brainstorming session on Revision of Syllabus for Bachelor of Pharmacy on 1 & 2 October 2024, Hyderabad.

Ms. K. Khyathisree (2nd B.Pharm), Ms. R. Naga Vyshnavi (2nd Pharm.D), Ms. B. Indrani, Ms. B. Sai Teja (3rd B.Pharm), Ms. A. Uma Maheswari (4th B.Pharm), and Ms. K. Swapna Madhuri (5th Pharm.D) emerged as winners, clinching the 1st prize at the Acharya Nagarjuna University ANUIC Chess Tournament. Additionally, Mr. P. Mahesh, Mr. J. D. Sai Kumar, Mr. M. Chiranjeevi, and Mr. M. Vivek Kumar of 4th Pharm.D won the 4th prize in the Men's Chess Tournament 2024-2025.

An industrial visit to JOCIL was organized for IV/IV B.Pharmacy students on 9th November 2024. Additionally, II/IV B.Pharmacy students visited Darwin Pro Formulation Pvt. Ltd. and Darwin Research Ayur Pharma in Surampalli on 19th and 20th November 2024.
