26.7.1993 Hollywood Bowl

Im not lying when I say that at some parts of this show, the audio is so awful, drilling holes in your ears may be less excruciating (variable on volume)

This continued my fanhood for New Order as I remember commonly listening to them in December of 2019. I also discovered "Regret" through this recording. When I first heard it, I thought it was a high generation cassette, but nope, master. Im sure this recording would be far superior if there were better mics than a handheld tape recorder. However the taper notes he just taped it for historical purposes instead of actually having it for trade (having fun is the most important part) (and as Im typing this, im listening to "True Faith" from this show.

This is very much recommended.  I pretty much every time I go on the bus I listen to this. It is well worth the ear pains (Im joking)

Notes:

I've google searched this show and still couldn't find an existing recording of this exclusive LA performance. This was the only So. Cal. stop of the limited, 8-show/city North American leg of New Order's tour in support of their album, "Republic." I've always wanted to share this recording but kinda hesitant to do so since like most of my recordings, this didn't sound good. I was just using a borrowed tape recorder and didn't really care about the sound quality. I just wanted to capture the show for documentation purposes. I tried to enhance the sound but I'm not a sound engineer so this is all I could do, hehe.

Oh yeah, I was with a bunch of my friends at the show. So they were messing around, talking while I was recording. We are Filipinos and we spoke Tagalog (Philippine language) so don't think that this was New Order - Live in Manila!, hehe.

This show was memorable to me not because of the band's performance, but because of that guy who borrowed my binoculars and took off with it, hehe.

Anyway, this could be the first (if not the only) audience recording from this show to go in circulation. I hope you'll enjoy it despite its poor quality. Definitely for the completists only!

Original cassette notes:

After 4 years, now they're back with a new album called REPUBLIC and an exclusive, 8-date only tour that supports the album...I personally think that this might be their last tour; they might break up...That's why I had to record this. Everything was going fine until somebody borrowed my binocular & after a few minutes...he was gone with it. I was pissed for a while but it's okay; I had to enjoy the rest of the show.

Oh, before I forget...-van- is now known as The VU & this is one of the very first recordings from the RECORD LEVEL collection!
