About Blue Monday lyrics:

I had always assumed it was

"Thought I told you to meet me

When I walked down to the beach

Tell me... how do I feel?

Tell me now... how should I feel?"

Is there no official source? Admittedly, such sources often don't jibe with what the singer actually sings; when I saw N.O. play in Atlanta on the Brotherhood tour (if it was actually called that), they changed around the lyrics as they saw fit. Of course, part of it could have been their utter frustration with technical problems; like mistiming of the sequencers on Face Up, or the bass coming unplugged from the amp during a solo on State of the Nation, or the opening of Love Vigilantes creating incredible feedback (good for a J&MC concert, maybe...). Anyway, Age of Consent had one clearly modified line: "You're not the type who needs to tell me... just what the f**k to do!" And Bernard didn't seemed pleased...

This suggests that the problems that plagued the group in '85 in Atlanta would show no signs of abating.

Source is a second-gen cassette clone from TMK. The first part of this recording sounds a bit quiet, and recorded from upstairs, but is otherwise clear....but it turns out that's the 'filler' version, the full recording is much better balanced.

State_Of_The_Nation

The TMK-sourced recording starts a few seconds into the song.

Bernard chuckles or chokes a bit on the word "salvation" during the first chorus. During the latter part there's some audience chatter that sounds like somebody wanted somebody to be quiet, or the volume was too low. At that point, the right channel cuts out at 3:38 but recovers at 4:25.

There's the sound of something hitting the mic and an edit point here as the taper's still adjusting levels. Quite likely this is from a second source supplied to fill in the main tape's missing portion, as the main version has the taper saying, "Happened again", and replies to his female partner's inquiry with "Pause button."

Love_Vigilantes

Like SoTN above, you can hear feedback mentioned by Kevin J Martin, if you listen closely...it doesn't seem to hurt the recording any.

Way_Of_Life

voice: "Somebody up on stage mixing. They got these guys mixing back here. Never...never seen that." The taper says something about what's going on, can't quite make it out, with the first voice then saying, "These guys up here are, aren't they? They're doing the monitor. Okay".

Then someone else says, "That's a great idea..."

Bit of a drop out after the chorus, "...seems to fall apart and leave you crying." Staccato guitar solo for this song, which goes a bit off-tune.

BS: "Thank you very much."

Sooner_Than_You_Think follows. And then everybody's favorite dirge, Elegia.

Afterwards...

BS: "Thank you very much. We'll play something a bit faster now, that tune you'd notice that anyway, called, eh, Angel_Dust. [As long as it's money enough...]

Next is _586_.

Subculture

Bernard makes an exclamation as the synths go "moo". I kid you not.

Hooky plays a little bass tune between songs.

Face_Up

There's a pretty interesting conversation through the bridge that mentions Chuck Berry and something about being 37-38.

Ends with a Hooky solo.

Age_Of_Consent

Some girl screams insanely when she hears them start to play this.

lyric: "I'm not the kind that needs to tell you/ Just what the fuck you want me to"

Edit between these songs.

The_Perfect_Kiss

Ends with the female moaning bit.

Edit between last song of main set and encore.

Temptation

Stereo shift during the first part (initial guitar riff) (TMK)

You can hear fans complain that they've closed the bar, and that someone isn't coming out again. When bernard sings, "It was urgent to myself," a voice can be heard asking his partner if she wants to move over one.

Amusing bit, somebody working the PA turns Bernard down on the swear word when he sings "the last fucking time" bit, but they of course can't anticipate him then singing, "I've never seen anybody fuck like you before" as revenge.

Hooky ends the proceedings with a drawn out solo, that segues into Do_The_Ostrich, which is the first time they've performed this particular number.

lyric: "Do the ostrich...do do the ostrich..."

One of Bernard's better solos in here, and quite a good performance, consistent with the observation that the Order's best of any live song is the first rendition of it.

Speeds up near the end, now this is reminiscent of J&MC.

BS: "Thank you very much, good night!"

Hooky proceeds to play on a bit.
