Setting up Time Clock Connections

STEP1: Add Time Clock to your online account using web app

Login to your online account with your login ID and Password.

Add a location (site) for your time clock: From left hand menu select 'Sites', click on 'Add Sites' on top right corner of the page, fill out site details and save site.

Select 'Time Clocks' from left hand menu, Click on "Add Time Clock", assign a Site to the clock, Enter time clock's serial number and Mac Address (Mac address should include entries for ":"). Click on Save.

How to find Time Clock Serial # and Mac Address:

For STC500 Series Models : On Time Clock (physical device), select Menu -> Scroll down using down arrow key to System Info -> DeviceInfo.

For Face Readers : On Time Clock (physical device), select Menu -> scroll down to select System Info -> Device Info.

Note: After completing network connections using one of the following methods, you should be able to see Time Clock status in web app as online (a green check mark) under status of Time Clock.

STEP2: OPTION 1: Setting up Time Clock with wireless Connection

USE EITHER OPTION 1(WIFI) OR OPTION 2(HARDWARE ETHERNET) TO CONNECT THE TIME CLOCK TO NETWORK.

You must know your wireless network name(SSID) and wireless network password to be able to setup Time Clock for wireless connection.

WiFi Setup for Fingerprint/ID Readers (STC500 series models)

Use following steps on Time Clock Device:

  1. Launch Time clock menu by pressing M key, select "Comm"

  2. Select "Wireless Lan", select the wireless network you would like to connect to by using up and down arrows, once the network is highlighted press M key again, this will launch "WiFi Setup" screen

  3. Use down arrow to get cursor into Pass box

  4. Enter the password for your wireless network. If you need to enter alphabets then press * key and press the alphabet key you would like to enter, it will display the numbers corresponding to alphabet, press the number to be able to enter the alphabet. If you need to enter special characters, press * key one more time to launch special character mode. Once done entering alphabets or special characters, press Esc key once to exit alphabet mode.

  5. Recommended: Set IP Address to 'DHCP'. Alternatively, If you would like to assign static IP address to the device then set IP Address to 'Manu' and enter IP Addr, NetMask (also known as Subnet), Gateway (which is your WiFi router IP address).

  6. Scroll down to select "Ok" button and press OK to save the updates.

  7. Press Esc key 3 times to exit from the Menu

  8. Push and hold time clock shut down button to turn off time clock. Push the same button again to turn on the time clock.

  9. Verify that clock is connected to the network: Press M key, select "Comm"->"WiFi Setup", at the bottom of the screen you should see IP address, NetMask and Gateway addresses (eg 192.168.1.101) . If you do see these addresses that indicates the device is connected to the network. If you do not see addresses please follow steps 4 through 9 again.

  10. Launch Time clock menu by pressing M key, select "Comm", select "Network" enter following numbers in IP Address field : 1.0.0.0, Save Network Settings and exit from the Menu.

  11. Reboot the time clock and wait for 2-3 minutes to check the status of time clock, login to your online account then select time clocks from menu options on left hand side of the application.

12. To verify time clock is connected to your network, you should be able to ping the IP address of time clock from any computer on the same network. On windows computer type 'cmd' and press enter, on the cmd window type following (IP address of the clock is as found on step # 9 above)

ping <IP address of the clock>

Above command should return successful ping messages. If you receive messages like 'destination host unreachable' or 'Ping request could not find the host' that would mean the device is not connected on the network.


WiFi Setup for Face Readers and STC5000 series models

Use following steps on Time Clock Device:

  1. Launch Time clock menu by pressing Menu option (6 squares icon) on home screen or M key, select "Comm".

  2. Select "Wireless Network", select the wireless network you would like to connect

  3. Enter the password for your wireless network. Press OK twice after entering your password, to go back to password entry form.

  4. Press "Connect to WIFI(OK)" to connect to wireless network

  5. Verify that clock is connected to the network: You should see the message "Connected" for the wireless network after step 4 above. If you do not see "Connected" status, reenter password for your network and try connecting again. Press Esc few times to exit from the Menu.

  6. Launch Time clock menu by pressing Menu option (6 squares icon) on home screen, select "Comm", select "Ethernet" enter following numbers in IP Address field : 1.0.0.0, Save "Ethernet" and exit from the Menu.


STEP 2: OPTION 2: Setting up Time Clock with Ethernet/Cable Connection

USE EITHER OPTION 1(WIFI) OR OPTION 2(HARDWARE ETHERNET) TO CONNECT THE TIME CLOCK TO NETWORK.

Ethernet Setup for Fingerprint/ID Readers (STC500 series models)

Use following steps on Time Clock Device:

  1. Connect ethernet cable to the time clock and restart the time clock by turning it off and back on.

  2. Wait for 3 minutes and check the time clock status under your account online as mentioned in STEP1 above. If the clock is online you are all set, you skip rest of the steps for time clock setup.

  3. To assign timeclock an IP address manually on the network, launch Time clock menu by pressing M key, select "Comm"

  4. select "Network". Follow next steps only if you would like to assign static IP address to the time clock. Enter your networks numbers in IP Address field (The IP you would like to assign to this device) , NetMask (also called Subnet Mask typical values are 255.255.255.0) and Gateway IP (Your router IP address)

  5. Scroll down to select "OK", Save settings. Press "Esc" few times to exit from the menu.


Ethernet Setup for Face Readers and STC5000 series models

Use following steps on Time Clock Device:

  1. Connect ethernet cable to the time clock and restart the time clock by turning it off and back on.

  2. Wait for 3 minutes and check the time clock status under your account online as mentioned in STEP1 above. If the clock is online you are all set, you skip rest of the steps for time clock setup.

  3. To assign timeclock an IP address manually on the network, launch Time clock menu by pressing Menu option (6 squares icon) on home screen or M Key, select "Comm".

  4. Select "Ethernet" enter your networks numbers in IP Address field (The IP you would like to assign to this device) , NetMask (also called Subnet Mask typical values are 255.255.255.0) and Gateway IP (Your router IP address). Enter DNS server, if you do not know your DNS server then enter Gateway IP (Your router IP address) in DNS server settings.

  5. Press "Esc" few times to exit from the menu.
