Working with Geo-Fences

To activate Geo-Fence, you must first create at least one site under sites setup, setup Geo-fences and activate employee for Geo-Fence enforcement. Click here to learn how to do this.

Once you have setup Geo-Fences and activated (or not activated Geo Fencing enforcement) following are the scenarios of using Geo-Fences:

Employee does NOT have Geo fence enforced selected:

• In mobile app (site selection is set to auto in settings)

- Mobile app will try to auto-detect nearest site and use that Site.

- If no nearest site is found, employee will still be able to clock in/out but those punches will not have site information.

- Employee can manually select a site from the time clock screen also.

• In mobile app (a site is specified in settings)

- Employee's clock In/Out details are sent with the site information set in settings.

Employee DOES have Geo fence enforced selected:

• In mobile app (site selection is set to auto in settings)

- Mobile app will try to auto-detect nearest site and use Geo-Fences created for that site. Please note the employee must be assigned to that site on the tool. Employee will be able to punch In/Out only while in Geo-fence. Employee can press refresh button on time clock screen of mobile app if employee just moved into the Geo-fence and would like to activate Clock In/Out button.

- If no nearest site is found, employee will not be able to punch in/out.

- Employee can manually select a site from the time clock screen also.

• In mobile app (a site is specified in settings)

- Mobile app will check logged in employee against Geo-Fences setup for the site specified in settings (or selected on time clock screen). Employee will be able to punch In/Out only while in Geo-fence. Employee can press refresh button on time clock screen of mobile app if employee just moved into the Geo-fence and would like to activate Clock In/Out button.
