This section teaches you how to decide between a left pinky fingering or a right pinky fingering. When we have consecutive pinky notes, remember that the goal is to alternate between left and right pinkies to avoid sliding. Sliding is explained again in the video to the right.
This video walks you through the process of choosing which pinky key to play when you have two more pinky consecutive pinky notes.
Always alternate pinkies when possible.
When a passage contains a note that can only be played with your right pinky (high Eb or low Ab), start there and work outwards with your fingering selection.
When sliding cannot be avoided, try to find the easiest slide possible. Low F to low E, for example, is an easier slide than low E to low Ab.
If you are having success with the quiz, move on to the next section for some practice exercises using your pinkies.
