In the month of December we will be learning about all different kinds of holidays. This is such a great time for students in the class to learn about the different holidays that each of our friends celebrate. This is a three part project. The Holidays Around the World Project will be due on December 13th.
Part One (Poster):
Your child will make a poster for Holidays Around the World. The poster can be a typical big poster or it can be computer paper size. I do have cardstock available if you would rather have your child do it on cardstock. Just email me to let me know.
The poster must have your child's name.
It must have at least one holiday they celebrate.
It must have some traditions that you do on or during this holiday. This can be drawn or printed and cut out.
Let the class know what you eat that is yummy, what you wear, if you get presents, etc.
Part Two (Paper Doll):
I will be sending home a cardstock doll for your child to decorate. This doll can either be dressed in clothing that you wear during your holiday, or the doll can be dressed in one of the countries we have learned about. If you would like your child to dress the doll in a different countries attire, I have added a bunch of information below to help aid in dressing the doll. This information is also what we will be learning about during our Holidays Around the World Lessons.
Part Three (Presentation):
They must be able to tell the class what holiday they celebrate and why. One of our standards in Kindergarten is being able to speak clearly in front of a group of peers. Having students present things that they have worked so hard on is a great way to build their confidence and public speaking abilities.
Your child will make a poster like the one above that tells the class at least one holiday that they celebrate.
Your child will be presenting their holiday to the class. They will need to be able to tell the class what holiday they celebrate. They will need to tell use why they celebrate it, and what they do on that holiday. We are so excited to hear about all of the wonderful holidays.
Your child can either choose to dress the doll in a country they have learned about during our Holidays Around the World lessons, or they can dress the doll in clothing that they wear during the holiday.
Great resource to help with finding information about your country and holiday.
