Within this section, you will find out how the classroom functions. In this section, it will go over what happens in the classroom, the color system, hand signals, how to walk in the classroom, how to sit on the carpet, fire and tornado drill expectations, bathroom and hand washing expectations, just to name a few. During the first 6 weeks, we are constantly setting up the expectations and reinforcing them within the classroom. It takes time for our students to get into a new routine, and that is why the information is provided here, and daily during morning meeting.
In our classroom we have rules. Rules help to keep us safe. One very important rule is that we always walk in a circle (counter clockwise). If we do not walk in a circle, we could run into someone, and in turn we could get hurt. Always remember rules help to keep us safe, and walking in a circle in the classroom will help to keep us safe!
During whole group, read-a-louds, or anytime students are on the carpet we follow the following chant:
Criss Cross Apple Sauce
Hands in our laps
Bubbles in our Mouths
Eyes are looking
Ears are listening
And we got our thinking caps on!
