Students began the year talking about what it means to be a scientist. This STEM Fun Day was all about how we are going to be scientists throughout this school year, and one very important thing scientists do is make a hypothesis. Which is what our scholars did in this activity, they guessed whether an item would dissolve or not. 

In this activity our scientists learn how to observe.  Scholars compared how two activities looked. They observed an explosion in a water bottle, and then they observed the same experiment in a cup. The disscussed some similarities and some differences between the two explosions. 

Scientists do experiments! In this activity scholars had fun mixing food coloring in water and learning about water and oil. Scholars learned that scients have to use gentle, calm, scientist hands when using the pipettes to drop colored water into the bowls. 

Scientists work as a team! 

As we have learned scientists make a hypothesis prior to their experiments. Together as a team students had to guess how many cups that would use to make a tower. Then together they had to build a tower out of cups. They all worked very hard to build their tall towers.
