Nueva Tlaxcalla

The colony of Nueva Tlaxcalla is a Spanish-Nahua colony located in eastern Cipangu. It was founded by the Tlaxcallan leader Lorenzo de Xicotencatl III. in 1566. The colony was initially part of the Viceroyalty of the Magellanian Isles and later became semi-independent after the decline of the Spanish colonial empire.

After the independence of Mexico in 1821, Nueva Tlaxcalla remained formally a Spanish colony, although Spanish authority remained weak. In 1872 Nueva-Tlaxcalla was invaded by the Mexican Empire under Maximilian I. of Mexico and once again integrated into the Habsburg realm, although with considerable autonomy.
