Boston fire teen academy

Deadline: Ongoing until spots are filled

Requirements: Ages 14-18 (cannot turn 19 before September 1). US work authorization is required.

Description: Get paid to work with the Boston Fire Department's Teen Academy. Participate in daily physical training and activities, assist with community service projects, and learn about the firefighter profession.

Commitment/Pay: Monday - Thursday, 25 hours per week, from early July to late August. Earn $15 per hour.

Green Ambassadors

Deadline: As soon as possible

Requirements: Grades 9-10, US work authorization required

Description: Green Ambassadors work on Cathleen Stone Island (in the Boston Harbor Islands) on hands-on projects that positively impact the environment while learning technical skills, team-building and social emotional skills. Green Ambassadors learn about today’s pressing environmental justice challenges and work on hands-on projects that positively impact the environment. The program also includes a 3-day camping expedition on Cathleen Stone Island.

Commitment/Pay: Tuesday, July 7th to Friday, August 14th, 4 days a week: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, The morning ferry will leave from EDIC at 8:00AM. The afternoon boat will depart the island at 4:00PM and return to the mainland around 4:30PM.

Students are paid $15 in their first year, with pay increasing every year.

Franklin Park Zoo

Requirements: Ages 14-18, grades 9-12. US work authorization / Social Security Number required to get paid. Volunteer/unpaid option available if you don't have a Social Security Number.

Description: Teens work in animal care, horticulture, educators/guides, marketing, or camp counseling.

Commitment/Pay: Paid interns work 5 days per week, 25 hours per week between end of June to end of August. Schedule depends on your work position. Unpaid volunteers work 2 days per week.

The Food Project

Requirements: Ages 14-17, grades 9-12. US work authorization / Social Security required

Description: During this six-week program, youth work with staff to grow vegetables and distribute thousands of pounds of produce while developing leadership, teamwork, workplace, and civic participation skills. After working on our farms each morning, Seed Crew spends most afternoons in workshops learning about sustainable agriculture, food access, social justice, and more.

Commitment/Pay: July 6 – August 13. Earn $15 per hour

Massport Summer aviation Intern

Description: The Massachusetts Port Authority is offering a 13-week paid summer job opportunity for students who are interested in gaining experience in our Aviation departments. The positions are available at Boston Logan International Airport and East Boston Parks in East Boston as well as Laurence G. Hanscom Field in Bedford. We also have opportunities within our Maritime division, located at the Conley Terminal in South Boston.

These positions are ideal for students who thrive in both indoor and outdoor environments, performing daily maintenance and other operational tasks that keep our airport and maritime facilities functioning smoothly. This is an excellent opportunity for students to acquire practical job skills.

Angell Animal Hospital VOlunteering

Description: Angell Animal Medical Center is a fast-paced, 24 hour emergency and specialty veterinary hospital. We are located at 350 S. Huntington Ave. in Boston, Massachusetts.

We are seeking dedicated volunteers who are interested in contributing to the daily operations of the Angell Animal Medical Center. This is a unique experience to become exposed to the field of animal medicine while assisting staff with various tasks.

Volunteer assignments may include the following:

Seeing how an animal hospital runs behind the scenes
Greeting, escorting, and engaging with hospital clients in our visiting hour program
Helping tackle our mountain of laundry
Cleaning cages, restocking food, and washing dishes in our inpatient wards
Participating in our comfort care program - an opportunity for our experienced volunteers to help comfort and sooth hospitalized pets in need of some companionship

Commitment: 6 month commitment, with shifts at least twice per month on a consistent schedule.
