Linda’s term has now ended, and Deborah looks forward to working with Dave Simpson as the new Co-Warden. She was drawn to the Episcopal Church for the beauty of its liturgy and ceremonialism. However, she has come to appreciate the depth of prayer, spirituality, and theology that is behind the trappings of the church. She hopes that the church can find a new voice in this ever-evolving world with an ever-evolving God at our side. She is a former pediatrician who lives with her husband in Middlesex and loves to xc ski and bike.
I have lived in Central Vermont since 1970, and Christ Church has been my spiritual home for almost as long, including a nine-year stint as Parish Secretary and many years in the choir. My work has been mostly in education and mental health. I am very interested in social justice, and I serve on the Board of Directors of Vermont Interfaith Action. I appreciate the opportunity to serve Christ Church as a member of the Vestry and to be a part of our spiritual community.
My wife, Angela, and I have been parishioners at Christ Church for more than 20 years. We were drawn in by the building but stayed because of the parish’s commitment to a kind of “loving independence” that allows all people to be present and welcome wherever they are on their journey into relationship with God. At various times I’ve been a member of the choir and the Vestry, a counter, a reader, and a lay eucharistic minister, and I am a lay preacher and the resident sound guy. I’m excited to be a part of the Vestry during this time of deep discernment over the future of our parish home. I’m passionate about music, and I’m a member of multiple gigging bands in the Burlington area. I also enjoy riding my mountain bike or motorcycle, reading, and hanging out with Ang.
