(serves 10; estimated cost: $3, or $0.30 per serving)
Ingredients
1 box of cake mix (flavor of your choice)
1 can of soda (any flavor)
Steps
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Prepare a 9x13 pan with oil and flour (or cupcake pan with paper cupcake liners)
Add the boxed cake mix to a large bowl. Add one 12-ounce can of soda.
Beat on low speed with a mixer for 1 minute, then move to medium speed for 3-4 minutes.
Pour cake batter into the prepared 9x13 pan (other size/shape pans are not recommended for this cake).
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
Let cook and serve.
Notes:
Remember this is a quick and easy cake hack. It is more for fun and ease, so do not expect a fancy finished cake.
The finished cake will be more crumbly than a regular cake. Make sure to cook it all the way through so it isn’t gummy inside, but do not overcook it so that it is dry.
Watch for the cake to pull away from the sides of the pan, then insert a toothpick to check the center.
