The recording location was a performing arts theatre. I recorded actors reading lines from a live play that takes place in a radio station. I picked this location because the theatre had multiple rooms with warm acoustics to emulate the radio station. I used the main stage as the radio producer's (SYDNEY's) studio. It had a slight natural reverb for the studio monitor sound. I used the sound proof theatre tech booth as the On Air booth for the radio host (GRANT) and the RADIO ANNOUNCER. I recorded the two call-in segment actors (KEN & CONSTABLE NG) in the prop room to give their segments a hollow, flat tone.
The soundmap shows the individual clips. These are color coded by character with duration in seconds. Music beds, SFX, and ambient sound clips are also mapped / color coded.
I recorded all the clips with one portable ZOOM recorder and pop filter.
I used Adobe Premiere to normalize all dialogue, music and SFX clips.
I used Adobe Audition to add Studio Reverb to SYDNEY's studio monitor clips, an On Hold effect for the low quality dialogue coming through GRANT's headphones, and an AM Radio effect on the the car radio in clip #3.
I cut between the dialogue of the clips and overlapped some of the clips to keep the audio pace moving.
I added the visual audio waveform for fun.
