I considered the following three concepts for my final project:
A drone training video for Part-107 certified drone photographers.
A travel video set in Vancouver B.C.
A video opening for a play I am producing.
The first two options would have been fun but I chose the video opening for the play. It is a continuation of my Soundscape and Mid-Term projects. This project will allow me to build and improve on the skills I have learned this semester. This project will let me focus on the audio as a foundation and use video and effects to tell the story.
This video project benefits me professionally and personally. Professionally, the video opening for the play will actually be used in the live production. It is the opening scene for the theatrical performance. The video will be projected onto a large movie screen. After the video is finished the screen will raise to reveal the live set and the actors. Personally, this video is the perfect intro to the play. It provides the opening title and sets the dramatic mood for the rest of the production. In addition, the audio editing skills I have learned in this class have helped me to solve some of the audio challenges in the live performance.
I plan to use more video effects such as silhouette, video inside text, masking and keying. I intend to use black and white images with super imposed blue radio waves / waveforms to give a dreamlike quality to part of the video.
