On Tuesday May 12th, 2020 around the time of 12:00pm the Daytona Beach Fire Dept. and Florida Forest Service responded to the area of 737 Mason Ave in Daytona for the report of a large Brush Fire.

Upon the arrival of Engine/Brush 4, approx. 1 acre of brush was found on fire/smoldering producing large amounts of smoke. Jimmy Ann Dr Command was established and was later handed over to Battalion 2. Units began an aggressive offensive fire attack in hopes of protecting a nearby apartment complex. The Florida Forest Service used their dozers to create a fire line to prevent the fire from progressing. After approx. 2hrs of work the fire dept. was able to contain the fire to a 1 acre area in between Mason Ave and the Bellamy apt. Complex. Approx. 2hrs after that and After the bulk of the fire was extinguished, Command was terminated and Engine 5/7, Brush 7/6 and Battalion 2 were released while Engine 6/4 and Brush 4 remained with FFS to finish putting out the fire. After approx. 3 more hours the fire was knocked down and units began to mop up and finished putting out hot spots. After approx. 8 ½ hours, on-scene DBFD and FFS units cleared the scene and returned in service. The incident was later referred to as the #bellamyfire.
