On Friday May 8th, 2020 the Daytona Beach Fire Dept. and the Daytona Beach Shores Public Safety Dept. Responded to 636 Lenox Ave for the Reported House Fire
Upon the arrival of Quint 2 heavy smoke and flames from the rear of the building was transmitted and #lenoxavecommand was established which would later be handed over to Battalion 1. Further investigation found a Shed fire which extended to the Charlie side of the house extending throughout the house and to a nearby car port as well as endangering the Economy Inn on the Charlie side. Quint 2 pulled an attack line and dropped a 5 inch supply line to a nearby hydrant and began an aggressive exterior fire attack and got a steady knock down while Engine 3 and Engine 5 assisted. When Engine 1, Rescue 1 and Quint 77 arrived, a defensive attack on the motel began. Crews of Engine 1 were able to save the motel with minimal damage to one of the rooms. Volusia County Beach Safety helped by providing their state of the art Thermal Imaging Drone to help Firefighters understand where the building was still burning. Units mopped up, put out hot spots and returned to quarters approx. 3 ½ hours after the initial dispatch. The cause is unknown but under investigation, No injuries reported.
