Camp will be your home for the next three months! Most staff will be housed in a cabin, or shared housing. You will be sharing bunk space with at least three other staff, so just like dorm living, being respectful and organized is going to make your summer more successful.
Our cabins are some of the nicest available at any summer camp. Every one of our cabins is roomy, with private bathrooms and showers, semi private bedrooms, a large covered porch, central meeting room and who could forget, AIR-CONDITIONED. Each cabin sleeps up to sixteen campers with up to four counselors. There are a total of 15 cabins, each named after states.
For out of cabin staff, you will be housed in similar dorm-style accommodation, with similar space and amenities as the cabins, just without the campers (sometimes).
1. Respect your cabin mates, their privacy & their belongings.
2. Ask permission before entering a bunkroom other than your own.
3. Shut doors behind yourself and keep windows closed.
4. Turn off ALL lights before leaving the cabin.
5. Bug Spray should be put on outside.
6. No Horseplay.
7. Be kind to the cabin and its equipment.
8. The utility closet is off limits to campers.
9. Keep your bunkrooms clean and your possessions organized.
10. Curtains should be kept open unless sleeping or changing.
11. Respect lights out.
● Junior Cabins have lights out at 9:15 PM
● Senior Cabins have lights out at 9:45 PM
In addition to you following Camp’s general rules, these are our expectations and standards as it relates to you as a cabin staff member this summer.
● Temperature. The cabins are set to 72°F. DO NOT ADJUST THIS TEMPERATURE. Each cabin also has a dehumidifier that should stay at its current settings. For issues, discuss at morning meetings and/or submit a maintenance request.
● Decorating. We love when counselors and campers take pride in their cabin by personalizing them! Please refrain from hanging anything on the walls with anything other than 3M removable tape or hooks (available in the camp store).
● Shoes in the Cabin. Cabins are able to be kept cleaner if campers remove shoes outside of the cabin. Make sure to keep all shoes neat and tidy as your cabins are inspected daily and messy shoes come with a penalty.
● Visiting other cabins. This is a camp rule that applies to campers AND staff alike: You may NOT enter another cabin other than your own and you may NOT be on another cabin’s porch. Meet with your friends in the staff lounge.
● The Staff Bunk Area. To best be able to monitor what is happening in the cabin, staff bunkrooms curtains should remain open unless staff are changing or off-duty staff(s) are using the room. No staff should be in their room, with the curtains closed, when they are on duty.
● Mornings. On-duty staff should be up and ready to go before the campers, helping to wake them up and get chores done. Giving instructions from bed is not acceptable.
● Evenings. Staff are expected to be up and interacting with the group until lights out. At lights out, campers are expected to go to their bunks and go to bed. The staff are expected to enforce the camp's lights out policy (explained in the “Camp Rules” section).
● Food in Cabins. You can keep food and drinks in the staff lounge. If you need snacks during the night, open & eat them on the porch. Bugs in the cabin are the last thing you need, they encourage small animals!
● Medications and Personal Items. Any medications, both prescription and over the counter, should NOT be kept in the cabins. These can be stored in the staff lounge. Valuable items and electronics should also be kept in the staff lounge where they can be locked away.
