Science is in our name and it's our main game! At Cub Creek Science Camp, science is incorporated into everything we do! We encourage our campers to explore, experiment, ask questions, and try lots of new things. We engage their curiosity and give them opportunities to strengthen their problem solving skills. Campers learn by "doing" and have a whole lot of fun in the process. Our Culinary courses allow campers to understand and experience the results of chemical and physical reactions that are happening all around them.
In this course, campers will make a variety of culinary delights. With little science lessons intertwined within, campers are learning about the science behind cooking while making delicious treats!
This course is available to juniors only.
Campers will create delicious Oreo truffles while learning a little about melting points and mixtures along the way.
Campers will learn about the sun as they harness it's heat to create a camping classic.
Campers will learn the science behind how sugar crystalizes while creating a fudgy, gooey treat.
Campers will explore how temperature, cooling, and movement turn heated sugar into tasty treats like toffee, taffy, caramel, crystals, or cotton candy!
Endothermic reactions are chemical reactions that absorb heat. When campers make ice cream in this class, they see how this reaction works in a delicious way!
Campers will learn to be a chemist in the kitchen and about the basics of molecular gastronomy. Transforming everyday flavors into new forms to surprise the senses.

Looks good enough to… wear? Campers will learn to make custom simple syrup and watch it transform over the next week into edible crystals.
Campers will learn the science behind this delicious treat and create some culinary magic turning juices into solid spheres.
Confuse your senses and turn everyday liquids into mind bending foams. From sweet to savory, it's science you can eat.
Do you love a dusting of powdered sugar? What about powdered nutella? Learn the art of transforming food into powder to add a dusting of magic to any dish.
What makes a good ice cream? Ice and salt? Campers will learn to make ice cream from scratch and play a few games while they’re at it.
Knead, roll, bake! Campers will dive into the world of yeast and make dough from scratch to bake homemade pretzels.
Learn how to photograph animals, people, and scenery with ease! In this course, campers venture out into camp with a camera and endless possibilities. Each day has an objective to help campers get an eye for photography. At the end of this week long course, campers will take home a flash drive with all the pictures from their course! This course and its classes are available to juniors and seniors.
After learning the fascinating history of the camera and photograph, campers will then dive into the basics of taking a great picture.
This is a photographer's hide and seek. The group will look for the shapes of letters out in nature and photograph them. By finding a "Y" in the shape of a tree, or an "O" in the shape of a puddle, find all 26 letters of the alphabet by the end of class!
It's all about perspective. Learn how to make the impossible happen by tricking the eye and camera with these fun and funny pictures. Campers will think of creative pictures to take and pose with their friends in this class.
Today camper's will go "on location" to get some great action shots. They may follow around the camp photographer or photograph nature i the Animal Area or on our beautiful nature trails.
At the end of the day, photographers have to select their best pictures to present for a portfolio. Campers will go over their photos from the week, choose their best, and create a portfolio on a flashdrive to share with their peers.
