Welcome to our hub on all things camp activities! These pages are a great resource to read through before you arrive at camp or use as a refresher when you are already here. While we already have your course/class preferences, nothing is set in stone. Take the opportunity to read through the 100+ activities that we have available for campers to participate in during their time at camp - you might find that your interests lie in places you never thought of before.
What are Courses and Classes?
Cub Creek offers campers a choice to join 2 courses per week and 2 classes per day. Campers choose which activities they want to participate in, though there are limits to how many campers can be in an activity (we try to keep it close to 12). There are some courses that, if a camper is interested, they are guaranteed acceptance into the activity. These includes our signature courses like Junior Vet and the LIT Course, as well as acceptance into at least one Adopt an Animal Course.
Courses are week long activities that occur at the same activity period everyday. They center around a main theme (for instance, Physics) and are built of individual classes taught each day of the week. In staff training, you will learn the overall courses, though you may teach the activities independently in a class period. Junior campers take their courses in the afternoon (activity periods 3&4) while Senior campers take their courses in the morning (activity periods 1&2) so we are not crowding an activity area.
Classes are a 1 hour activity that campers choose on a daily basis. Sometimes the class is one of the course days, but we also offer many classes that are completely independent. For instance, while we do not offer a crafts course, we do offer a huge variety of classes.
Because we have such a large quantity of courses & classes, we separate them into sections of camp, then further into tracks. During staff training, you will be assigned to learn two tracks. You may not teach all of the courses/classes you learn, but we encourage having a diverse knowledge of courses to make scheduling easier and to prevent your own boredom as you teach the same material every week.
