SSCs
Aims
To allow students to exercise a degree of choice in their medical education and provides students with a progressive programme of study which develops, integrates and reinforces transferable and other skills each year. This is a fantastic opportunity to be creative and teach in a way that suits you and that you feel would be of most benefit to the student.
Teaching commitment
• 2 weeks across the Academic Year
• You can decide to how many students you would like to offer the SSC
Examples of current primary care SSCs include
• Practising communication skills for finals and beyond
• Auditing chronic disease management
• Out of Hours Patient Care
• Clinical skills in general practice
Assessment
This will vary according to the placement but will include an assessment of attendance and professionalism. It may include grading of written or verbal submissions.
Reimbursement
Years 1, 2 and 4 - £410 per student
